re: Is it weird that a 50k GMC truck’s big selling point is a tailgate that has a step on it?

Correct. That’s how I know the replacement cost. A coworker did this on one with 832 miles on the odometer.

Depends on what you want. A Sierra for me.

Ford interiors are not comfortable for me.

Most days, you don't. But do you know what you do "need?" Cooled seats. I have them for my seat and the passenger's seat --- and even in the back seat for my kids.

It's a luxury, but when you get to this price point for a truck, why not if funds are not an issue?

Sierra has one of the better interiors. Better than toyota, nissan, their own chevys. Ford and ram have better but still not bad

They're generally part of an option package.

But then southerners are wearing parkas when it's 50 degrees.

It would be everyday use truck with a lot of mileage piling up on it. A nice interior would be preferable despite earlier comments due to the amount of drive time.

Tundra is probably the most reliable but their interior is pretty antiquated too. I don't think there's a ton of difference in the domestics. I've owned all 3 and they all have some things that I liked better than the others.

Tundra if you don't want it in the shop much. Will cost more, but be worth it in the long run.

They're all reliable.

On the other hand the Tundra gets by far the worst mileage.

I'm liking the 2020 Denali 2500 myself.

I agree that the US manufacturers make perfectly fine vehicles now. Some of them made some shitty vehicles in the 90s but I'd have no issues buying one now.

50 degrees is a frigid January morning for me.

It gets bitterly cold in most of the south though. Much colder than 50.

Because it comes with the cooled seats. Go ahead and sit on a seat blowing cool air in your undercarriage and come talk to me about what you need in the south.

As a work truck I prefer a Ford.

I just saw one of these tailgates a friend of my son had and thought it was kinda cool.

As an old dude I found it would be a hell of a lot easier to get into the back of the truck.

I don't know how it would hold up in a working environment.

I’m not so sure I’d want that electric tailgate. On the Fast Lane the GM guy said that you’d need a jump to open it. Ever hear of a battery backup?

I do like the step feature; it looks more useful than Fords.

Yes, sir.

They are a big theft item, easy to steal and it doesn't take long to get them off. (Ford, GM; cameras, steps, etc)

My tailgate locks with the truck. I'm sure it's not a huge issue to get around for a pro though.

My 07 Avalanche tailgate locked with the doors. Nice with the hard covers over the box. Basically a massive trunk.
