They probably want the best for you which includes not being so lamely career-focused.

Someone posted this on my FB Feed with no commentary at all a few days ago.

It didn't go over very well amongst my more liberal acquaintances and the people on both sides of the child free debate.

I don't think I've ever met an old person that didn't have kids, say that they are glad they never had kids

I have an aunt that never got married. She's fantastic with my kids when she visits and has mentioned some regrets about never having children of her own.

The aging process has also become very daunting to her.

It's not to say that having a partner or kids fixes all of that, but it certainly helps.

Didn't you start another thread like this awhile ago.

Sounds like you want kids and your wife doesn't, so you are trying to justify it. keep working through the stages of grief on the OT.

I'm not pretending this

I knew that post would get plenty of responses similar to yours

although if a person goes their entire life without ever wanting to reproduce, I'd say that person has some type of mental or biological defect

I can assure you that isn't the case. If I wanted children I wouldn't marry someone who doesn't want children. I know that sounds crazy...

I like that you make such sweeping generalizations. It really adds to the shittiness of you as a person.

It's not a pretty thing to say, but it's the truth. It took me a long time to get here. For obvious reasons, I keep such views to myself and tiger droppings .

Not at all. It's upsetting that some people who have no business having children have them - and multiple others. It's upsetting that some people have children and have noting to do with them.

A couple who doesn't want children is responsible by not having them.

I kind of agree with this.

I want kids, I just don't want the inconvenience of having to take care of them. Not to mention the financial burden.

oh, it's not the reproducing that I am not interested in, it's the raising them. It is a lifetime commitment, and I do not think I want to take on that responsibility.

eta: I would love to be able to rent a child that has my genetics for one weekend a month and holidays.

that isn't a sweeping generalization, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing

I have mental and biological defects

more like if I didn't want children I wouldn't frequently start in depth threads about having them.

Technically, it's the meaning of life. You know, procreation and caring on the species and what not.

Ew, it's much better to think about these things than to not think about them. And other viewpoints helps to round out your own.

I agree with him to a T. It's not a generalization so much as it's been statistically proven to be in our DNA to want to reproduce and nurture a child.
It happens at different times sure.
But if you think I would trade all the tangible assets or trips/experiences in the world
for
watching my son take an interception back for TD last season
or my daughter get a standing ovation after singing in a talent competition last fall,
forget it.

That's what he's talking about. It's yall not us.
