When I was a kid we used the brown paper ones for all our burnable trash and it was my job every day to burn them in the burn barrel. It was a pretty common thing back then

When I travel, I use old grocery bags for my workout shoes and clothes.

That way I can pack the wet, nasty clothes without them contaminating every thing else in my luggage.

I usually double the bags up because those bags can leak.

Negative for using them as trash bags.

Wouldn't any thrash bag be considered "thrashy"?

Greatest thing I’ve discovered for my eBay sales, the stockpile of used Walmart bags people return to the store and leave at the front. I’ll grab several hundred each time I go to WM (I don’t go a lot). These things make great packing for breakables when shipping.

No. Because of the size they are ok for small trash cans. I always have one or two in the car as well.

I’m late to the thread.

I use grocery bags for waist basket liners, diaper disposal, and dog-shite gloves, etc.

No really so much as useless.

Wal-Mart and Brookshires/Super 1 bags are crap as are Target bags.

Best Buy and Office Depot bags are usually good. Best Buy purchases have been lately been on line or it's something small like a hard drive that I just carry out.
