You also drive a dodge, so it’s clearly because you’re trashy.

Of all the things that make you trashy, this is not one.

Apple Watch all fricking day. frick all that dumb status shite. I got a Rolex as a gift, but why would I ever wear it?
Posted on 5/19/21 at 9:06 pm to Eli Goldfinger
I get the sentiment
But I also like having fine, timeless things that will hopefully be of interest to my son (and perhaps his children) one day. A Rolex is more likely to be maintained, cherished, etc. than a beloved Citizen. It's far more likely to achieve the sort of interest and memories that creates a good heirloom.
I don't blame people for not caring about that stuff, but I kind of like it.
That said, I have Swiss watches - But I wear an Apple Watch.

I have one nice watch and I love it. Nothing crazy expensive but I wear it out to dinner and to things like weddings.
It’s just an accessory that looks nice. Hell, I don’t even set the thing to the correct time.

I wear a bulky all-chrome purple-faced LSU watch. I’ve changed the battery twice and it’s still stuck at 6:30. But I love it.
Much like a Rolex, my watch is just for show (but thousands cheaper) and I feel naked without it on my wrist.
I mainly get time from my iPhone.

I get the analogy, but I think the sub $100 Fossil Minimalist with leather band watch looks way better than the highly expensive watches with metal links.
Expensive watches and bracelets aren't synonymous. That is just (generally) a division between sport/tool and dress watch. The most expensive watches are much more likely to be on a strap than a bracelet at least at MSRP. You can also put a leather strap on most any watch it isn't unusual to see older Submariners on a leather strap.
To extend the hooker analogy strap/bracelet preference is like hair color, you can get whatever you want at whatever price point you in interested in. Nothing wrong with blondes or brunettes and some peoples needs may actually be better met by the less expensive choice even if the money for a NYC high dollar agency is just pocket lint to them.

Yes.

I own a watch, a nice one, well I think it maybe nice lol, it’s currently sitting in my bedside drawer prolly with dust on it from not being worn in maybe 10 or more years (prolly doesn’t work) I don’t wear any forms of jewelry besides my wedding ring, and honestly it’s just a solid black rubber ring lol if I want to know the time my phone handles that, along with many many many other functions that the watch just can’t do

My father gifted me his watch a couple months ago. The last watch I wore was a Casio watch that doubled as a calculator (prob did other stuff too - alarms, etc). That was in 1991.
It's a 1984 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust #16013, Champagne Diamond Dial. It's probably worth more than my car. I generally don't burn money on luxuries, and so I'm not really used to wearing what some would perceive as a status symbol. Despite what others may assume about me, I wear the watch.
It reminds me of him daily, as it was affixed to his arm every since I was 3. He has always been a punctual man, which I generally am not. This watch reminds me of my father and the values that he tried to instill in me. It also reminds me not to put the pressures of time above the love that God expects me to show the world.
But yeah, brah, you're trashy AF.

Resale value. Most of the expensive designer items can be resold for close to what you originally paid for it.

Also if you like nice watches you might also love cheaper too

I only wear watches when dressing up. So at work or doing something where I'm in nicer clothes. I never really check time on it actually. Just have them to make the outfit complete. Seems weird to wear a blazer and tie with no watch.

I’m not huge on them but I do have the Rolex my father bought me when I graduated college and a Breitling that I wear a good bit I believe I paid $4700 for.

Looks líke some of you Breitling haters need to go to a George Floyd riot with your Tranny girlfriend's boyfriend and tickle each other's balls.

If you’re wearing a 3k Breitling you are doing it wrong.

Not in my opinion. I wear a G-Shock because I have a propensity to swing my arm into door casings on occasion while walking through doorways. I guarantee that I would ruin an expensive watch in one way or another.

I do like a nice watch and the best I have is a Ball Roadmaster Vangaurd. But it was a showroom model discount. Made me think after that and I've bought other store models like a Tourneau Sportgraph for $120 (unreal) and a Bell & Ross store model WWI Argentium for $800.
Buy cheap. No shame.
