I’m not sure I know enough adult men who own, no less wear, nfl jerseys to even have a party like this.

do people really do this? in my group of friends people always ask to bring something or just automatically chip in if they don't

No, don't charge your guests. Keep it cheap and simple, get some NBA Youngboy cupcakes and Kool Aid and host it at your neighborhood park. Don't forget the TV and loud music.

May end up frozen to death on the patio 3 days later. No thanks. Not this time Goodell.

If you can’t afford to throw a party, then don’t throw a party

If they will pay, yes. Your parents having folks over?

Will hookers and blow be offered?

If you charge, the NFL and/or broadcasters may want their cut.
There is a reason why restaurants pay much more for cable and satellite programming for public viewing TV.
There is an old KTBS sign off from 1975, that says something like this: “Programs shown on KTBS cannot be shown where there is price for admission or a cover charge is charged.”
KTBS sign off 1975 go to about the 4:38 mark for the disclaimer. Otherwise watch the full five minute clip for nostalgia sakes.

Only if strippers will be present. Then it's called a cover charge.

WTF are you under 21? Otherwise do not charge people to come to your party. Ever. If you make an invitation, note the dress code and "should bring". People who do not comply do not necessarily get invited next time. Also you are within your right to hide your good booze and only offer it to close friends and contributors, while the mooches can drink cheap beer and Jack Daniels.

I have one friend that routinely comes over for watch parties. He brings like 2-3 beers and drinks 10-12. Every time!

I’m guessing your wedding had a cash bar and your friends talked shite about you behind your back for it.
Posted on 2/7/24 at 7:55 am to pioneerbasketball
Umm no. Why would you even think that’s appropriate??

You need to get rid of that friend

I'm reading some of the replies regarding throwing a party, and in my opinion there are 2 types of parties.
One is where there is an actual invitation that gets sent. Like an engagement party, the wife throwing a shower, a Halloween party, etc. With this kind of party, I'm covering everything. Food, alcohol, etc. I will specify the kind of food and drink that I will provide in the invitation. If that doesn't suit you, then you better bring what you prefer. Also, I don't "expect" you to bring anything at all.
The 2nd is what I would call a get together. Not formal at all. I probably just texted out invites to a few friends. Either a watch party, a pool party, a BBQ, a crawfish boil, etc. With this type of party, it's always BYOB. I will provide all the food and you are welcome to whatever soft drinks we have. But if you want alcohol, you better bring it. All my friends know this, so it doesn't even need to be said. Same if I'm going to a friend's house for a similar event. I'm bringing my own beer.
