Nice troll, but if I showed up at a SB party and the host asked for money, I’d leave

I have one friend that routinely comes over for watch parties. He brings like 2-3 beers and drinks 10-12. Every time!

The guy that brings the Natty Light, drinks all the good shite, then leaves with the untouched Natty Light he originally brought? We've all had that guy in our crew, time to cut bait.

what's so special about your Superbowl party that folks should pay to attend?

This is how we used to do when watching the Tigers on Tigervision. One person would order the game and people would come over to watch the game and pitch in to cover the cost. Tigervision was popular back in the early eighties. Most people on here have probably never heard of Tigervision.

If you're an adult hosting a party, you shouldn't expect anyone to subsidize it.

It’s pretty simple to text people saying to bring something.

I think pot luck style is fine as long as its planned that way from the jump.
if you start a text group and say " where are we watching and who is bringing what" then that's fine. That's a normal weekend night with my friend group.

if you invite people to a party that you controlled and planned then you're hosting and on the hook for the cost.

decide what kind of friends you have and plan accordingly.

Yes.

“Ay bro, I’m having a little get together to watch the Big Game. You and Hailey should stop by.”

Wait for everybody to get there and for the game to start, then bam. Offering basket gets passed around.
