With those commercials he should just burn his money in a barrel. It will be a two man race between Bel Edwards and Abraham.

I saw one where he seemed to just constantly talk about supporting Trump. Seeing these ads gives me the impression he doesn't really have any ideas of his own. Or at least some sort of vision of what he thinks the state should be and how to get there.

His newest commercial was at least more than just "I voted for Trump, I've got a Trump bumper sticker, here's a pic of me and Trump, so vote for me".

If I didn't know any better I would think he is just running as a pawn or maybe as a Trump proxy.. Whatever you want to call it, just for the data collectors to see how many people would vote for Trump no matter what (opposed to those who voted for him just because he wasn't Hillary).
But on the other hand, Louisiana is worth 8 electoral votes that is likely going to be a red state in national elections, it would seem like a waste of resources to see where Louisiana is likely to go in a national election.

I know several of the Rispones and extended family. All great people, very family oriented and conservative. But yes, his only commercial that I've seen pretty much sucked. All it basically said is that I agree with Trump and I support Trump. I do too, and I'll probably vote for him, but he's going to have to do better than that.

His commercials kind of remind me of Blue Bell commercials. Trying to be very laid back and folksy. Then that "Boom" comes out of nowhere. Very odd.
The "we bought this billboard so the trial lawyers can't" billboard was spot on and very good. So to go from that level to these commercials... very strange.

The whole "splitting votes" thing only matters in general elections where you can win with less than 50%. That's not the case for this election.
If JBE pulls over 50%, then that's what he pulls, has nothing to do with any splitting of votes.

I've always said he's just a rich dude who is bored and has so much money that he will personally fund his way into the Governor's race. Whether he intended it or not, he makes it seem that all the voters in Louisiana are in fact stupid and will vote for him just because he says Trump in every other sentence. It isn't the dumbest strategy as Governor John Bel Edwards essentially just ran on I don't have a prostitution scandal, but when you are trying to distance yourself from someone who is more known across the state it is a dumb strategy. Outside of Baton Rouge besides in affluent circles, no one really knows who he is.
