Why wouldn't Rispone show up for the forum with the Sheriffs?

Because it's a waste of time as the sheriffs are likely going to endorse JBE.

Sheriffs are among the biggest political hacks in Louisiana and they will go with whoever protects their little fiefdoms and money the most and JBE has done just that.

Rispone just acknowledged reality.

If I'm wrong and the Sheriffs assoc refuses to endorse JBE, I'll gladly eat crow.

I hope he gets elected so I can break out my Ross Perot impressions again. It isn't as good as my Coach O, but it's pretty decent.

Rispone and Abraham will split the GOP vote and JBE will get 51%. And that'll be that.

This is one of the dumbest and least informed political comments I've ever seen on the OT and has no clue how louisiana elections work.

It’s a jungle primary system in which if no one gets past 50.1% in the first round, the top two vote getters will advance to a runoff.

Anyone that’s willing to vote Rispone will never vote for JBE.

Whoever the republican is in the runoff will consolidate the conservative base against democrat JBE.

Splitting the GOP vote? Of course the GOP vote is going to be split for the first round.

There were three republican candidates in 2015 between Vitter, Dardenne and Angelle and they all did no worse than 16-17% iirc.

And they had less money and name recognition than Rispone does right now with Vitter being the sole exception on name recognition.

Who...y’know just led us out of the black hole vacuum that was Jindal’s Economy.

JBE's economy is worse, way worse than any economy Jindal had.

The Louisiana economy has shrunk two of the last three years and the one year it didn’t shrink it grew at a paltry 1.1 percent. Not to mention that some 68,000 more people have moved out of Louisiana than have moved in since JBE took office, and by the time this gubernatorial term ends, that number is likely to top 100,000 ad we may lose a house seat in DC because of that.

JBE doesn't give a shite about the economy, the only thing he cares about is the size of the state budget and the size of the state government. That's Louisiana to him, not the private sector who feels the economy.

you should visit his FB Page...he clearly says he backs Trump

He says that during an election year while running for Governor in a state where Trump is popular?

In 2016, he called for Trump to drop out of the race because he said mean things. Abraham's voting record as a conservative is ok but not stellar. I'm waiting for him to give me a reason to support him. For now, I'll take a Trump outsider over an establishment Republican anyday.

Because it keeps JBE from winning without a runoff. You fund some black democrat to run and pick away support from JBE.

It’s been done plenty in LA with the jungle primary.

That black democrat is already in the race. He qualified yesterday.

Oscar "Omar" Dantzler.

Gary Landrieu is also in the race as well.

I can see these two stealing a few percentage points though stupid voters who either see the Landrieu name and promptly vote and poorly educated black democrats who see someone just like them and vote accordingly as well.

First things first, this guy is complete crazy and is a hanger on troublemaker of sorts in Louisiana politics for powers that be. He was a police officer in Hammond, got fired from there, filed lawsuits about it and ran for Mayor there.

But damn if he isn't useful as a wedge against a second term of the political twin of Edwin Edwards.

All he he has to do is put up a bunch of signs with his picture and name on it in the majority black areas in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, make something like the WBRSO shooting an issue, and he could easily steal a couple to a few percentage points from JBE and then the runoff is on.

Remember last year? Gwen Collins-Greenup vaulted past Renee Free into the runoff for Secretary of State simply because black voters supported her instead of a white Democrat with a better chance to win the general election.

What? Angelle and Dardenne had each served as Lieutenant Governor. That's a statewide elected office.

To the die hard conservatives they think JBE is pro-choice simply because he is democrat. Reality doesn't matter in politics.
Not quite. JbE seems to be pro-life, but as long as he is a Democrat and seeking to expand the Democrats agenda and the party's influence, he is walking a tight-rope of inconsistency/hypocrisy since the official party platform has basically become the advocacy of aborting at any time right up to labor, and if the baby manages to make it into the world alive, that it's acceptable to them to not care for it and allow it to die right there if mom says so.

Angelle was appointed by Jindal to the office, he wasn't elected to the position.

Dardenne won it in a sleepy special election as that's a position that nobody really pays attention to.

If people really paid attention to the position, the qualified democrat Kip Holden would be Lt. Governor today over that fat moron Billy Nungesser who so happens to be a republican.

Instead, the position is a party line vote now these days and Dardenne won it because of the R next to his name.

Now look at Dardenne being a bought and paid for whore for JBE after having sold his endorsement to him.

No.

He definitely helped the republican win the Mayor's office in Hammond.

And that's an example of troublemaker for powers that be in Louisiana politics.

JBE can do whatever he wants to as long as he doesnt seek higher office. Progressives cant primary him because there's no party primary. National Democrats are just happy to have flipped a red state blue. If he wanted to run for Senate it would be a different story but AFAIK theres no indication of him wanting to do that

I'm not so sure about that. Panepinto won with 57% of the vote.

He definitely made sure democrats had no chance of winning there as a single democrat candidate could've made it more competitive while still not likely enough to force a runoff.

I hope Rispone and Abraham donors are giving Omar a few eye wink checks to fund his advertising campaign in NBR, Nola and Shitport.
