having balanced the budget will resonate with a lot of people who only casually pay attention to state politics and don't realize it was done by increasing taxes.

Nobody could have balanced Jindal's mess without raising taxes. Jindal alone probably bought 8 years worth of a Democrat governor if we're being honest. He was that bad and the state GOP did nothing but kao tao to his political aspirations. Now it's biting them.

It could affect how people vote. There might be people who would generally vote republican, but because they don't know which one to go with they will just stick with the incumbent.

With that said, I don't have a problem if JBE gets re-elected. He came in and had to clean up all of Jindal's bullshite (who I actually voted for twice, but in his second term he really showed the piece of work he is).

Abraham has one out where he says he would do everything the opposite of JBL.
I take that to mean he's pro choice.

To the die hard conservatives they think JBE is pro-choice simply because he is democrat. Reality doesn't matter in politics.

they need to plant another Dem or Ind in the race to take votes away from JBE to prevent him from getting over 50% in the primary.

He is doubling down. He knows Abaraham, although a politician and doctor etc, will split a lot of his JBE-hater crowd. He wants the conservatives to check the size of their gonads.

I went to a GOP luncheon a few months ago where he spoke, and the good thing is, he and Abraham both have agreed to support each other in the general, whoever gets the nod.

Which is what excatly didnt happen 4 years ago

i am now a one-issue voter...state cannabis legalization. rispone obviously is just going to pander to the trump base and otherwise offer nothing of substance, so until he addresses the issue i will ignore him.

the idiot-in-chief incumbent is so bought and paid for by the sheriffs that he cant even shite without running it past them. he's out for me

so that leaves abraham, i'm waiting to hear what he intends to do (or not do) when the legislation is re-introduced

Seems like a good guy, but the commercials are weak.

None of the three major party candidates are in favor of legalizing weed.

From what I can tell Abraham is an establishment, never-Trumper who will keep the good ol' boy LA political system rolling right along. Rispone is short on details, like the rest, but right now I'm inclined to give an outsider a chance. Like Trump asked, "What do you have to lose?" This state can't fall much further than 50th in every standard of life measurement.

Abraham's base is composed of a lot of north Louisiana Protestants and he's going to have to do very well with them to win this race. Because of that, I doubt very much that he's going to come out strongly for marijuana legalization, if at all.

What? They can't decide between two GOPers, so they are going to vote for the democrat??

That makes no sense at all.

Now, it's possible they might not like either GOPer, and they vote for JBE because they like him more. But that's not splitting the vote.

A north LA social conservative isn't supporting weed.

he doesnt need to support it... CO's governor was 100% opposed to legalization when it passed their legislature. he/she just needs to sign the bill

JBE won't do it because he's a puppet for the parish fiefdoms we call sheriffs. rispone appears to be retarded at least in his commercials, though i dont know how that could be possible given he built one of the largest and most profitable private companies in the state. i'm going to one of his fundraisers so i will ask him straight up

In today's sound bite and twitter quote society... signing a bill will be interpreted as supporting it.
