It used to be in NOLA the time when ancestors were venerated and families would go to their cemeteries and take care of landscaping and whitewash the graves that needed it to be ready for All Saints Day.

Why not both? I really enjoy watching my kids have a blast and I also enjoy throwing on a Michael Myers mask and just walking around . It’s funny as hell watching people freak out about it.

It depends. How much do you like candy?

Trick or treating as an adult? Heck no. Decorating and having a costume party? Heck yeah.

Adult women in slutty Halloween costumes is OK in my book.

Be careful what you wish for.

One year at a church run halloween event I went to... there was a sexy bumblebee with no pants and tattered stockings.

Shame she was 4'11" and 210lbs.

It was so inappropriate AND disgusting that I actually took a pic of her from behind- her gelatinous arse cheeks sagging well below the bee onesie and visible through tattered fishnets... I took a pic and put it on facebook. Probably in 2010-2012, somewhere around there.

It depends on the venue or surroundings. For probably 10 years, a former BR area band hosted an annual Halloween costume party/contest at Superior Grill on Government Street. It was clearly an adult event, and while there were the usual naughty nurses, sexy French maids, etc, the majority of participants showed a lot of creativity, humor, and cleverness in their costumes. I participated for maybe 5 years, then I became a judge for the last 5 who could, and did, take the occasional "bribe" of a drink. FWIW, creativity, humor, and cleverness always won out over sluttiness. (And damn 2020/Covid for shutting down what was an extremely enjoyable night)

Both my daughters live in neighborhoods that resemble the Halloween scene from E.T. Very family friendly, parents taking their kids around, no rowdy teens acting inappropriately, etc. In that atmosphere, it's totally for the kids.

Probably not the answer you wanted, but it's my honest opinion.

Yes. It's ok to enjoy every day and every holiday. Why do so many of you tards care so much about perception? I have a close friend dying from Cancer at 48. You think it's ok for him to celebrate Halloween?

Stop trying to impress people. Start living each day to the fullest. Have fun and be silly sometimes. Your kids will appreciate it.

Hah. What a dumb set of age ranges. Halloween is high school f'n rocked. Roaming massive neighborhoods, smashing pumpkins, ding dong ditching. I miss the 90s

We dress up at work for it. Its fun.

One dude wore a gorilla suit one year and hid under one of the VPs desks and grabbed his leg when he got to work. The whole floor heard the scream.

We listen to songs like "Season of the Witch", watch horror movies and go to our local Oktoberfest during the month.

The "Skeleton House" on St. Charles Avenue in NOLA is entertaining and seasonal. Last year was entirely Taylor Swift themed. Travis Kelce in the background was inspired.

On the other hand, someone in my neighborhood erects a garish display of overindulgence with a dozen 12 foot high skeletons and a Guinness world record number of inflatables covering every square foot of his property. Maybe give a pass if it was just for two weeks, but it's from September. And then he puts Santa Claus hats and costumes on the skeletons through Christmas, and THEN he puts Mardi Gras sh*t on them until March. There should be a law. Where is a Homeowner's Association when you need one?

I think anyone can dress up and have a good time. Getting candy is for high school kids and below(Id rather HS kids partake than them do other things).

Life's to short to be lame.

There's parts of Halloween for kids only.
There's parts of Halloween for adults only.
There's parts of Halloween just for teens.

There's parts for families.

Like any holiday or celebration, there's parts you can enjoy, and parts that, to you, you just don't get.

The only wrong way to do Halloween is to hand out Chick Tracts or this shite

Have fun or frick off

I don't really celebrate Halloween anymore as an adult, but one of the great joys I have now is buying full bars. I don't know why it means so much to me, but I love handing out actual candy bars and not the tiny little things. I also plan on having little pocket constitutions out there for anyone interested.

You are looking for permission/acceptance?

I have been enjoying Halloween for 50+ years. Could not give an F2cks what anyone thinks. Certainly not going to look for opinions.

Give out candy, have a fire, drink a beer, see my neighbors.
