I think actors are often shortchanged by those who have never done it, especially attractive women who are cast primarily due to looks. I've been in a couple films and my daughter was a child actor. It does require more effort to memorize dialog, take direction and project a character than just showing up and being oneself while being filmed (ala Samuel L. Jackson).

Granted, Mary Collins (Bo) , a high school dropout who spent most days surfing (her dad was an executive for Hobie Cat), was not a rocket surgeon and maybe dumb as a brick as you say. She couldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Meryl Streep (Oops, just did it) but she was better than Tanya Roberts. I have never seen Bolero, but hopefully will based on your recommendation, just to re-evaluate her "talent" as a actress.

Edit to add: If you had hung around on the right beach on St. Bart's in the 90's you may have been able to go snorkling with fully nude Bo, but posting a pic of that or similar here just might infringe the rules...

Once upon a time before cell phones three college football fans - an Aggie, a LSU Tiger, and an Arky Razorback - were motoring through remote farm country when they were beset by car trouble. Walking to the nearest farmhouse, they found that the old owner did not have a telephone, but he offered to take them into the nearest town in the morning. He only had room for two in his back room, and the third would have to sleep in the barn behind the house.

The Aggie declared he was from an agricultural and mechanical college and wouldn't be too uncomfortable around the animals and headed out the back door to the barn. About 30 minutes later there was insistent knocking on the door and the two fans inside opened it to find the Aggie begging to be let in. He explained that the cows, horses, goats and geese were just too noisy and smelled too bad for him to tolerate.

The LSU Tiger blustered, "LSU is also an A&M college and a Cajun can tame or calm any animal, even alligators. They will be afraid I will eat them." He went out the door to the barn. Thirty minutes later there was again insistent knocking on the door, and the Tiger fan admitted that he also could not stand the noise of the animals, and the barn smelled worse than a polluted bayou.

They pushed the Arky fan out to go to the barn. Thirty minutes later there was a furious kicking, scratching, howling and wailing from outside the door. The Tiger and Aggie cracked it open to peek outside and there before their eyes was a cluster of desperate horses, cows, goats and geese.

Au contraire, mon ami. I know a woman whose German father was deported and never again seen by her because the U.S. did vet German nationals. Don't know about Italians but I suspect at least some of them as well. To the best of my knowledge none were interred in camps ala the Japanese.
