Yeah you came a little bit before me. My generation was told go to college or die LOL. So I went for free and graduated smack dab in the middle of a recession. I I have my daughter when I turn 21. I was going to college full time and working three jobs to make ends meet and take care of my family. After college I couldn't find anything of substance so I started working construction. I had to bartend for the next 3 years at night while working a full-time job to make ends meet. But my generation is soft lol.

The company I work for, a Fortune 500 company, is hiring an entry level position in their Houston area warehouse.

If you are having difficulty filling that position at that rate and with those benefits, then YES, the rate is TOO LOW.
Supply/Demand.
We have had a pretty severe shortage of nurses aids, and this is because the hospital refuses to offer more than $16/hr.
Where I live you can make $16/hr at Dunkin + tips.
Why would you wipe asses and get physically assaulted by Geri-psych patients for $16/hr?
You can thanks Inflation and the politicians who caused it for the current situation, but that’s the way it is.

Unions, transportation are hiring and will train, pay good wages all over the country. shite, mines pay 120k avg and cant get workers, and its pretty easy work
Thise are wages beyond living wages.
Theres no excuse. Jobs everywhere, just takes a little effort and they pay well.
But some dont want solutions.
But those require work. If you want a good payong job theres no reason why you cant.

Inflation is much higher than the government reports. Even before Covid. When they report that it's 3% it's really 6%

Fact remains, in terms of housing, the biggest factor in wealth creation for Americans throughout our history, wages are at the weakest they have ever been, even weaker than the Great Depression

If there's one thing Gen Z has hopefully learned it's that college is not some free ticket ride guaranteed to end in crazy wealth for not doing a lot of work.
Being an older millennial I also fell right into the "go to college or have fun working at fast food places your whole life" type speech. And of course I graduated in 2007 right into a recession. Didn't even use my HR Management degree until 2011.
Hopefully Gen Z is being encouraged more to go to college if they have a true career path/goal but if not to consider trade schools.

started with my company in 1984 for $1500/mo. living in New York City, ain't no hiding from that, it was tough

Depends on where it is located. Here in AR that is lower end pay but a lot of good benefits. If it's in a major city you aren't going to be able to cover your basic bills with that. It probably seems like a good deal starting out for you because when you were starting out it was. With the labor market being what it is, that isn't as great of an offer as you think it is.
They could go wait tables, work 30 hours a week and make almost double without the benefits (which many young people don't give a shite about).

They don’t care about retirement because everyone will be on a social credit program by the time they’re 70.
They’ll likely also be put out to pasture around that time.

I'm definitely encouraging my kids to avoid college unless they have a solid plan

It is funny that benefits don't matter when you are young and are important when you get older. I turned down a pretty intriguing job offer recently because the benefits weren't close to what I have now.

Are you? Someone making $15/hr has no capacity to save any meaningful amount of money. Most of them have big student loan payments and rent is at record levels.
Not a position needing college. He said high school grad. Good for entry

After reading through this thread I can tell you that the money you make compared to your reading comprehension/critical thinking abilites is way off
With your current level you probably deserve about 15 an hour. It's on par with high school kids
