I had all the benefits etc you named off. I made 12 per hour. That was in 1992. I think you are paying too little.

I made like $12/hr with an IT degree from LSU in 2000.

I was a giant drunken frickup for most of the 90s. Went back to school in 97 studying computer programming (Tech school).

I had a job as a network technician in 2000, 2 year degree at the time and CCNA. Made around 20 an hour.

Uber has stated that its drivers can earn $55,000 per year.

Now factor in GAS, wear and tear on your car, dealing with the public in bad neighborhoods, and being at the whim of patrons who look to scam the system for free rides and don’t give a shite about the driver

I made double my starting salary maybe 3 years in but I guess the point is that starting pay when you have little to no experience is often kind of low. But I guess people can sit around waiting to get 65k in an entry level job if they want to. It's none of my business.

I agree. I eventually earned a BBA and now manage a team of engineers. It’s hard to hire entry level people. No one wants to earn their stripes and they don’t know shite when they get out of school. which is ok because I can teach them or rather give them room to learn and some guidance along the way, but not at the pay they want.

Did you not just see that picture about what Bucky's pays? Those are entry-level jobs, probably don't even need a high school degree type jobs and they are paying a living wage

Yea why do you think the prices of everything they sell went up substantially?

So they are making $20/hour instead of $15/hour. That’s like an extra 10k a year. That 10k isn’t going to cover the increase in prices of everything they buy because of inflation.

It’s just creating the illusion of higher pay. Watch Biden will spin it as he has increased wages, watch.

But it's the other way around, the wages are in response to inflation

Also, what sort of opportunities for advancement are you looking at in that organization?

These kids expect $25 hr+ to do menial tasks in an entry level warehouse position. I said what about the benefits? No care, it's all about their paycheck every 2 weeks

Kraft is next door to us and is starting people out at 21.50 - 23/ hr depending on the job. Most places around here have been in that ballpark for awhile now. If you want decent help, you have to pay for it.

The wages also drive inflation when you can’t find workers. You have to raise what you offer to be competitive and actually find people to work. The business has to increase what you are offering while simultaneously increasing the price of your products.

Inflation is a vicious cycle that is hard to break

As a high school Civics teacher, I can assure you that they absolutely are.

They all think they're going to drive Lambo's, live in a mansion, and sit around doing jack shite all day - despite the fact they have 7th grade educations.

Therein lies part of the problem - people shouldn't be squirting out kids they can't yet afford.

My first role out of college was $35/hr.

$15/hr is minimum wage in some states. Say what you want, but $31,120 a year is absolute dogshit.

Edited to add that our warehouse staff start with all the shite you had (401k, medical, yadda. Ya) at $22.50 an hour.

Sucks that decent working people have to plan ahead to have kids when welfare mamas can just pump out future street rats.

By the mid 80s the Baby Boomers were already 30 something adults, not "liberal in their youth".

Remember this show - it was about baby boomers putting down their hippy beads and becoming parents

You understand that’s almost $30/hr adjusted for inflation, right?
