Try paying $25 an hour with no benefits then. Young people don’t appreciate benefits. Once they have a hospital visit or need prescriptions they will, but not u til then.

I think you are right, but that's not happening right now. More people than ever voting liberal and not changing. I'm 35 and I honestly did not care to vote until I saw that beautiful orange man on TV.

Any of us who are still working and still trying to get ahead are dealing with the same realities of reduced purchasing power and higher costs of living. As well as external market forces in real estate. It's not a generational issue, or at least shouldn't be.

I'm not reading 22 pages to find out if someone has already stated this, so forgive me if this has already been pointed out. If the response to inflation is increased wages, how do you think that will affect inflation?

Look up Appliantology.org
Pay the yearly membership.
They have all the manuals and instructions. Once you know how to talk to the computer you're ready to go.
You have to know ohms law and be able measure amp draw and see if your resistance is in spec. This saves tearing machines down to measure ohms. Especially great on fridges and dryers. Can diagnose in one minute with an amp meter and the line voltage.

I sure didn't care about the extra benefits at any job I was looking at in my late teens and 20s. Sure, it's nice to have health care but a lot of people that age that I work with now are still on their parents plan, so they don't care about the health insurance yet. Whether they should or not is a different issue.
The 401K stuff yes, it's great. But when you're making 30K a year who cares about a 6% company match. You can't afford to contribute to it. Same for the 15% stock discount option. I worked for a large national big box in management and had similar concerns you have OP, but again, who cares about being able to buy that stock at rhat age when you can barely pay your bills and eat on the salary you're given?
Furthermore, most people that age just need a job. They aren't looking at any of these places starting at $15 as their future and career. They're just trying to pay their bills. The PTO is about the only benefit in that age range that means anything of actual value.

If you're struggling to pay $1500 a month rent in Houston you can make more than that waiting tables or valeting cars

Not reading this entire thread. I can tell you that my first post HS job was in a warehouse doing picking and unloading trucks. I had all the benefits etc you named off. I made 12 per hour. That was in 1992. I think you are paying too little.

I applied for a box truck driver position at goodwill making $20 an hour. I was told I didn't have the experience and I have a relative that works in the same facility. 15 individuals were called for an interview but only six showed up.
