If you are already a member of the cult, yes, still a thing. If this is for your wife, primarily, do F45.

I think it was the username oysterpoboy who used to spam the ever loving shite out of crossfit threads. It was brilliant.

Jody teaches CrossFit out of his basement.

Send your ol lady down and tell her to knock twice. He’ll get her setup just right.

I’ve never seen anything like the traditional CrossFit stereotypes that people make memes about. I think that’s overblown.

I think a lot of those came in the initial expansion. You had people that misunderstood Glassman's ideals. I think it has matured a lot.

Diet is the biggest part of losing weight even more than whatever workout you are doing keep that in mind. If your calories you eat put you in a surplus the workout doesnt matter alot. Count Macros!

Welcome to the Swinging Lifestyle!

Seriously though, CF was created as a retirement plan for PTs and Orthopedic Surgeons. After 40ish don't do that crazy high impact stuff like box box, or heavy weights with poor form.

Box jumps on unpadded boxes are not the best idea for bigger dudes.

I watched people deadlift and squat with horrible form because they were going for the extra rep, or for time. I always did shite right because I know how much difference 1/2 of bar movement in the wrong direction can make.

Me and the wife did it for a while together and I stopped because it was too hard on my back.

My wife kills it. She has done a few competitions now. She just did the WodGodz competition at the Shreveport Convention center. If she had a little better genetics she could probably seriously compete at a high level. She's just a little too small to compete with the top girls.

But yes, Crossfit is still a thing. There are 3-4 in Shreveport/Bossier alone. It definitely has more real life stregnth than just getting in a gym doing curls and bench press. You can avoid injury if you listen to your coach. If you have a Crossfit coach that isn't teaching technique then you need to go to a different one.

I would always do a tradition pull up though, not the kipping pullups. I'm a Crossfit fan but I'm sorry that's just not a pullup and just a good way to hurt your back.

There are several couples they come to the CrossFit place I go to. Seems to work for them.

As many have eluded to, you have to check your ego some. Not everyone was meant to lift heavy, or jump on boxes or do gymnastic like movements. Just scale and get a good workout. Your ego can get you hurt in a place where things are reps for time.

There's actually a board called the Health and Fitness board for these exact things.

And just a few posts down there is a thread 170 pages long on Crossfit.

Yes it is still a thing.

This must be why you don't know what a putter cover looks like.
