I like the idea of ordering a new truck and someone driving it up to my front door but I’m not trying to overpay. What’s the OTs experience?

Seems like it's more comparable to a more modern Carmax

It does seem to be fairly expensive though. It looks like you are paying a premium.

I can't speak to buying from them, but selling to them was the easiest damn thing ever and they offered me 5 thousand more than anyone else.

Do they drop off the vehicle to test drive & inspect?

I don’t think so I’m pretty sure it’s purchasing sight unseen

Carvana offered me less for my vehicle than a dealership did on a trade in, and the vehicle I wanted was more expensive than the local dealership.

Seems convenient, but I had an easy quick experience at said dealer.

Yes, I bought from Carvana and had a great experience. They rolled up to my house with my new car on a flatbed, took it off the trailer and said I could drive it around for a bit while the worker filled out paper work. Took it around for a spin and he said I have 8 days to call them to return it if I changed my mind.

After I signed the paper work and gave him the check, I drove straight to a mechanic for a 150-point inspection. He said the car was in great shape. I've owned that car for 3 years now with no issues, but glad to know I could have returned it in that 8 day window.

Back to the original topic, for the car I was looking at, Carvana's prices were actually cheaper than the local dealerships. In fact I even tried to get the dealership to price match so I could buy through them and they wouldn't do it. I'm glad they didn't because the Carvana process was so easy. I would definitely buy from them again without hesitation.

Our experience was very similar. Carvanna offered us $4k more than CarMax did 9 moths earlier.

I know someone that bought a NEW car from a dealer a year ago and Carvana just offered him $500 more than he paid for it to start with.

You might pay a bit more buying from them, because they gave me the best offer by far for my vehicle. So their strategy seems to be a little different than Carmax, who low-balled my vehicle by a lot.

Carvana exceeded all other offers by a whole lot, for what that's worth.

Interesting.

I wonder if things have changed over the 3 year period and Carvana is now in a position to demand a higher price. Or maybe it’s just a deal to deal thing.

A lot of people will pay the premium to not have to go thru the whole negotiation process. Plus, it’s delivered to your door.

My experience has been the opposite with higher trade in and lower purchase cost - but as with anything, varies with demand, availability, I’m sure location has impact etc...

The OT loves to overpay for vehicles.

One thing I see is they’re asking a stupid amount of down payment. 15k for a 34k truck??? Wtf?
