My 8th Grade Algebra teacher fricking hated me because I'd always interrupt and my grades were bad, so she told my parents I had autism. I got tested for that and IQ, and not only did I miserably fail the autism test, but my IQ score was so good that I got grounded over it for 2 weeks since it confirmed I was just a lazy piece of shite in high school. My parents wouldn't tell me my IQ score, and they've forgotten what exactly it was since then except that it was high.

I've always sort of blown off Mensa. Thinking about it, though, maybe that was premature. Do they have groupies? How about Tailhook Convention-style gatherings?

Given that you can't conjugate the present tense of the verb "to be," I'm going to guess your chances of membership may be less than you think.
Also, the query quoted above fails in the same way many other OT queries fail, such as those aimed a women or minorities. That ain't who's on the OT: it's a forum of half-bright white dudes. Very few women, blacks, or Mensa members. So addressing questions to them is the mark of an oblivious poser.

Well, if you are a member you no longer have to brag about possibly being smart enough to qualify. That would help make up for some of the lost free time filling up your ego, which you seem to desire.

This story makes no sense. Why would your parents trust your algebra teacher to make an autism diagnosis? Why was an IQ test used for the diagnosis? Did you show any other signs?

It was an all day affair. And I'd known the algebra teacher almost all my life since her daughter was in my class since preschool. My parents were pissed as frick at her telling them that I was autistic (it was before I was in her class that she first told them that), so they wanted something conclusive as a middle finger to her.
And I think my parents were just killing two birds with one stone since they were sick of me being lazy as frick when I was smart in basically anything I gave a frick about. At least that's how I best understand it.

Ummm, no. I'd have way more social issues if that were true. Not too many people with autism sat at the popular kids table in high school. I'm a bit obsessive and chaotic, but that's the only thing I have in common with an autistic person.

You can skip the test if your SAT/ACT/GRE score was in the top two percent.
