I got invited to take the test after doing a practice one and would probably qualify. The test eats up a Saturday and cost money. Is there any benefits to being a Mensa member?

Yes only because they fine the business establishments if they catch you without it. I would hate to cause a restaurant $500 fine after months of being closed

I thought about it at one point. If I did qualify, it would only confirm how much I’ve wasted my life.

Obviously being Mensa qualified doesn't help you pick up on sarcasm

It's a club with some social benefits but nothing substantial, other than bragging rights, after that first job. The social part can help a little with that first job but after that, your work resume is the biggest factor. I think of it as National Scholar but with more substance and nerdier friends.

I'm not a member but, since I post here, you already knew that.

I got in based on my PSAT score back when it was accepted. My parents paid for the dues while I was still in school but I never paid after I got out. Not sure it helped with college or law school admissions since I had SAT and LSAT scores high enough to be admitted and almost certainly didn't help me get my first job.

I think it was about $50 a year back then, I assume it is higher now and I never thought it was worth anything especially for an adult if your CV doesn't reflect how intelligent you are then being a Mensa member could only hurt you since it would illustrate you are an underachiever.

Our ICU is full. We are out of shoe covers, gloves, and surgical caps. Cutting back on testing because reagent is running low. Can only test symptomatic people and patients which sucks. Wish hospitals would have prepared better during the lull of the shut down but we are coping. No where near overwhelmed...but still feeling things tighten up.
