Is Amazon screwing us with slow shipping under the guise of corona?

Amazon's shipping has slowed down from 1-2 day delivery to 1-2 weeks.
Their reasoning is that they are prioritizing shipments to those people in need the most, or some vague BS like that.
Wonder how much Amazon is profiting from lower shipping expenses in this time...

100%, and not just Amazon either.

Yep. I have a small business. I ordered the specific tape that I use from Amazon. Two week turn around. It is usually two days.
Evidently, me running my business is non-essential.
(For those wondering, the tape is a certain size and width and fits my dispensers. I can use other tape, but prefer the kind I normally use.)

Ordered a new Roomba today and it said Prime but has a 5/10 delivery date.

Yes 100%. This is the point where amazon turns to shite. If you think that they’ll go back to 2 day shipping you’re crazy. Unfortunately this will be the new norm for them. They have everyone hooked- “COVID” is the excuse they’ve been waiting for.

Honestly over the last few weeks we have had a few Amazon deliveries by someone in a regular mid-size car. Most have come by their vans but twice in unmarked cars. They seem short on delivery people/equipment.

We’ve had regular delivery cars mixed in with Amazon vans for over a year. They sometimes contract out when volume is high.

Amazon has been lying to me. I actually get my orders before stated delivery day.

Oddly I haven't experienced any delays. They'd been pretty inconsistent lately, before CV but I haven't noticed a big drop off.
Come to think of it, where the hell is the solder iron I ordered Prime a week ago. Asshoes.
I have to give USPS credit, I ordered some shoes from Grivet Outdoors. Free shipping. Arrived in two days USPS. I'm getting very little mail these days so I guess they have extra capacity.

Just saw online that there is now an option on some orders to go change your delivery date to 2 day shipping because right now it's defaulting to something longer

They started with the slow shipping well before Corona. Now it's just worse.

I ordered a lawn mower belt and a weed eater carburetor on the same order. Belt arrived in 2 days carb in 2 weeks. Belts must be priority
The carb took 2 days to arrive after it was shipped. Amazon just waited 12 days before shipping it. They are not shipping it with a cheaper/slower shipping method just waiting to ship the items.

They're losing business because there's been multiple items I didn't buy because I didn't want to wait that long.

Everything they ship that is supposed to be “prioritized” is sold out. You can’t get toilet paper, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer...nothing. So what’s the point? What are all the employees doing?

The free market will correct this.

Well they just hired 175,000 people...that hardly sounds like a conspiracy to ship more slowly to me.
