Yeah it is. My Bros in law all live outside of Birmingham and I go regularly. Nice people, nice area. The Redneck Riviera is nice as well....it's getting crowded. Hopefully they put some sort of moratorium on new high rise condo construction *at least for a little while). I'm a big fan of Dauphin Island (not too many people, decent beaches and no high rise condos and good fishing). The mountains north of Birmingham are nice staring in late September.

Downside are the UA fans who never graduated high school. The UA grads I can handle as well as the Auburn people but the insane teabaggng, oak tree killing, shoot your brother in law overa types are just too much at times......although I think Harvey Updyke actually was living in Denham Springs

DO NOT move to Walker county....ever.

My wife's grandparents lived in Parrish when they were still living. I think it's the trashiest place I've ever been

NE Alabama is awesome

Most of North Alabama is a great place to live/visit due to the river and dam system. I'd say if not for TVA North Alabama would just be a vast waste land.

FIFY

Birmingham proper still sucks balls...and won't change as long as the current city government remains in place.

Lived in Huntsville for 5 years. Never felt like I lived in Alabama. Lived in Jackson for 3 years. Definitely felt like I lived in Mississippi.

Agreed. Some of the burbs are very nice. B'Ham proper is a top 10 murder city with shitty schools and demographics not all that different from Jackson.

I once had a friend who went to Millsaps tell me that the only good thing about Jackson was that it was all the motivation one needed to work hard and graduate early.

Despite the problems Alabama has, they have a great looking future. Wish we did here - people cant even move to Houston anymore because the Lake Charles bridge is about to collapse.

If you want to go to the opera or a 5 star restaurant, probably not.

If on the other hand your family likes playing touch football in the yard....because you can afford a big enough piece of property to do it.

Or sitting by the pond or on your boat on the nearby lake fishing sounds fun.

I get the bonus of living close to the greatest college football program so game day is great.

And I can still YouTube the opera or look up a recipe to try and cook myself if I like.

All without living in an anthill like LA or NYC. Life is pretty good in Alabama. We even get the bonus of warm weather so the girls are showing off most of the time.

I’ll take that

Hahaha so true.

Maybe they want it to collapse to keep people in Louisiana?

I've visited Alabama several times and always enjoyed it. The Huntsville area is especially beautiful and I would like to see more of it in the future.

Auburn/Opelika is the greatest small town community on the planet.

As much as it makes me throw up in my mouth, I absolutely love the town of Auburn. Spent many weekends there when I was at Fort Benning. Even caught an Auburn/LSU game.

the absolute GOAT gulf coast town

It's awful. Nobody should move to or even visit Fairhope. Overrated. Just keep driving to Orange Beach or Destin. The women are ugly, the restaurants suck, and it smells....all the time. If a local gang member doesn't kill you then the flesh-eating bacteria in the Bay will.

Make sure you tell all of your friends this as well. Feel free to share this statement on Facebook and every other form of social media.
