The eastern shore in Baldwin County is the best place to live in the state but I might be biased

Alabama is by no means the best state I have ever lived in, but it's first in my heart due to being born and raised there. I have quite a bit of nostalgia for my childhood and teenage years, though I think most everyone does. But if I had to do it all over again I would. Alabama may not be the most sophisticated state, but it's filled with great people. My closest friends all hail from the state and, had I grownup elsewhere, I never would have met them.

I’m not from Alabama and I don’t have enough info for insightful opinion, but I like how you think, RollTide1987. You are a credit to your homeland.

Parts of Alabama are definitely some of the more underrated places to live. Now, that has been a big shift over the last 5-10 years. Birmingham especially. 10 years ago, definitely not, but now it is night and day different. However, Alabama also has some of the absolute worst places to live.

Definitely seems like the parts of Alabama are very nice and I would live there. Nice Birmingham suburbs or Huntsville would be good for me. The state as a whole seems to be better off than Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.. positive growth moving foward for sure. Can’t say the same about the other three. It seems like Alabama has potential to be more like Georgia if the state keeps on this path they’re on.

As much of an a-hole as Bentley was, he did a phenomenal job bringing companies to come to Alabama. Ivey has taken a lot of credit for the work Bentley put in over the last couple years. If she continues what he was doing, Alabama will grow a lot over the next decade. I just don't have a lot of faith in her.

Y’all have a better public school system in most places, more favorable demographics, better geography, less political corruption, more diverse economy, and it helps that you aren’t neighbors with a powerhouse state like Texas. Our “nice” suburbs would be laughed at compared to places like Hoover or Mountain Brook.

The differences between Jackson and Birmingham should be absolutely shocking to anyone.

Her tour for the Toyota/Mazda plant was a joke. My company has been working on bids for that job for over 3 years, we just didn't know that's what the job actually was. She then acted like she did all this work for getting the project to happen. All while refusing to have a debate

It has good parts and bad parts like everywhere else. It is probably in the top 5 most ecologically diverse states. It’s got great beaches and decent foothills. The deepest canyon east of the Mississippi River is in Alabama and we’ve got some great lakes and rivers. So, if you enjoy outdoor life it’s top notch.
Education can be lacking, but there are strong schools if you plan on where you want to raise a family. State government is frickkkkkkkkkked but for the most part they leave everyone alone while they get richer. The people here are great and despite negative perceptions, race relations are actually not that bad.
I’d recommend living either in N.Alabama or the Baldwin/mobile county area. But B’ham and T-town are solid too. DO NOT move to Walker county....ever.

Your selling it well. From my experience, it seems like the northern portion is nice, the middle portion is crappy and the coastal/lower portion is nice. Spent a week in Cullman last summer and really enjoyed it. I’d live there it was a very nice and clean town.
