Is a light brown/gray suit ok to wear to a funeral?

I've got a black one that has t been broken out in some time and it's a little to snug. Brand new brown/ grayish one sitting in the closet. Note, I'll likely be 1 of only a handful to have one on.

So you hate the deceased?

Yes, that's fine.
The family will appreciate your presence.

It's okay. The dress rules on funerals are not as tight as they used to be, regarding color.
Suit, yes. Black, not necessary anymore.

Compared to some of the really poor fashion choices I saw at the last funeral I attended in Louisiana, including the brother of the deceased wearing faded ragged out jeans, paint splattered tennis shoes, and a short sleeved button down from Wal-Mart that's never seen an iron, any color suit would be acceptable.

If you're gonna go that route, why not just wear a wedding gown and piss on the casket?

Yes.
The most important thing about a funeral, by and far, is your effort to show your respect and support the family.

Gray is fine, darker the better if you are going with gray.

Black not necessary. But whichever suit you have that is the darkest. I'm assuming gray. Or are you saying you only have the two? Not judging. I have no need for suits, so I only have one.
Dark sport coat and black slacks?
If outside at all it is hot as hades. Sport coat over arm as soon as possible and respectful.
Hell I just went to a proper Jewish funeral with some wealthy old folks. Many did not wear suits. I was surprised. Even saw a couple golf shirts. Dark golf shirts but still?
It also was a funeral where the close loved ones cover the casket with dirt. One old fella was doing WORK. There were many who threw the ceremonial handful, but this old lumberjack threw 4-5 shovels full. Even drive the shovel into the pile with his foot to get more.

I went to one last month and I saw a family member sitting down drinking a Rockstar Energy Drink during the eulogy in the funeral home. I thought he was driving a tall boy at first.
This was in BFE Texas.

It's fine, especially in Louisiana. My grandfather's funeral was in Florida, but the rest of the family lived up in NH. Some idiot wore a winter suit (because it was black) and had to get treated for heatstroke.

unless you're dressing like craig sager any suit is fine to wear to a funeral. It shows an effort on your part and a modicum of respect.

I'm putting in my will that you aren't allowed to wear black to my funeral.
