It'll get boring pretty, and you'll end up taking many less joy rides in it than you think.
We did the same thing with a convertible Sebring back in the day..
I will say driving it on the Blue Ridge Parkway was always a treat.

I don't think it's been mentioned but a second generation Mini Cooper (R56) is an awesome little car. My son has one that came with 185 hp but now makes about 260 and is an absolute blast to drive.
I enjoyed his so much I bought a 2014 Mini Cooper Coupe. It gets 30 MPG, accelerates very well and corners like it's on rails. On top of that it wasn't very expensive. They have a few design related reliability issues but if you correct those, they are very reliable.
Mine looks similar to this.

Get the vehicle. I did the same, kept it for 15 years, had fun with it and sold it.

I think the OP is straight. So probably no on the Mini Cooper.

You planning on hitting 90mph on the Parkway or something else stupid? Ever been on the Parkway?
I'm not much of a car douche like you I guess.

You're in a sports car thread talking about how boring it gets and yet the car you chose was a Sebring
That's not a sports car
That's not a sports car

Bought one when they first came out in 2012 and love it. Also I love having the OG model science FRS before rebranded it 86 after Toyota eliminated the scion brand. I love it and only 100k miles.
you can pick up a decent used example for under $15k

Wife had the car when we met. I didn't pay for it.

Felt like the thread went to convertibles pretty quickly.

It feels a little irrational for me… but at the same time, making memories with my wife while we’re still young enough to really enjoy it also feels pretty rational.
you only live once, and you aint taking the money with you when you go. You got the right idea. Make the time and memories with your wife. get the good package on the car you want and enjoy yourselves. frick anyone who says otherwise.

Do it. I did at roughly the same age and I have no regrets. I recommend a convertible. Manual transmission is overrated in my opinion. It can be fun at times but also a pita if you get into stop and go traffic. And most sports cars today have the paddle shift option on the automatics so I'd recommend not getting a manual unless you really really want one.

Get a late 2000's Honda S2000. You'll thank me later.

Yep. My oldest kids just graduated high school. Soon as I can get them out of college/off the payroll, I’m getting a sports car. As my everyday not as extra.
