Increasing access to fresh food.

Typical lib, throw money at a problem, pat yourself on the back and say problem solved.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

At one time chain stores and local stores dotted all of BR proper. Some held their own, but many folded for various reasons. New ones came where they could profit. The market determined most of that.

Why did most fail in NBR and why didn’t new ones come? Solve those problems and you will fix the problem.

$750,000 from the general fund for this shite...and they wonder why the hell SG wants more control of their money. That bitch doesn’t give a damn about anyone outside of NBR.

What’s new? She wastes tax dollars in NBR to pander to her voting demographic, most of whom wouldn’t know “fresh foods” from a hole in the ground.

That’s a hustle, and they are selling it to the workers.

Honestly curious to know how you know what form of payment people use. Are you that nosey Nancy type that stands in line looking in peoples purses and wallets while they are trying to check out. Pathetically nosey if so.
be real, it's not hard to see a LA Purchase card when it swipes, just saying

and the shortage of the stores in the poorer neighborhoods was off the charts.

I can't even imagine working in loss prevention at a Wal Mart on the fringe like at Cortana or somewhere similar.

There was an article in the paper today about the Academy on Airline had a BRPD cop stop by each hour because of the theft going on at the place. Wal Mart would be a free for all, literally.

I'm surprised that they just don't staff a cop all the time during business hours.

There aren’t any groceries in the north part of the city. Not a lot of transportation either. This is the reality of the situation.

Some of you guys don’t know how good you have it.

To an extent, I do agree with you. Most of us are, at least in some part, a result of parents decisions. So yes, I have benefited from my parents making good financial decisions and placing value on my education and work ethic. Born under different circumstances, my situation would have been much harder. But accountability and self discipline play a very large part in where a person finds themselves by middle age. The fact is that many of these poor people really never stood a chance because they were born to single mothers in poverty that didn't give a rats arse about their education, their own careers or even their family structure and stability. By this point, it's multi-generational so I don't know who to blame, it's all they've known or ever been around. They don't have father figure or successful aunts/uncles to look to for guidance. I do have sympathy for those born in those circumstances and do agree that I've had it better than many. But where does the solution lie? What's the future for this 'culture'? Sure, there will be exceptions that escape it by sheer will and determination, but they'll be the outliers. What's the permanent solution to turning the tide of our inner cities?

The citizens of that area would still drive to the Corporate Blvd location.

My point is that NBR has been a hostile business environment between regular issues like pilferage and organized union efforts to picked supermarkets to the point where they say “frick this shite” and leave.

Picketing the grocery store? Does this happen anywhere else?

Drive by a section 8 neighborhood. You see some really really nice vehicles parked outside.

I’m sorry. No one is starving in BR. The poorer the fatter these motherfrickers are. In fact, let’s exam why poor is.

Unless momma and daddy are both smacked up or on crack - the average EBT recipient has A/C, free food, subsidized housing, a big screen TV, smart phone & internet. Hell, they even get free food at lunch.

All of that shite is modern day slavery.

Don't know if it is still there but a buddy and I stopped at a small burger shack on Hollywood near Plank while we were in the area. Heard the burgers were good so we decided to try it.

As my buddy received his order from the window, a freakin crackhead came from around the corner of the shack snatching the bag out of my friend's hands running off into the neighborhood with it.

I worked in a shoe store while getting through undergrad. It was in the mall in a decent area but we still had a lot of trash come through. Every jersey or anything worth more than $50 or so had to be ziptied to the each other and the wall. You could never leave the floor unattended for even a minute. The power went out one day and someone immediately grabbed a stack of shirts and ran out. I can't imagine how bad it is in a shitty area.

Why do you assume black people are incapable of buying vegetables and eating healthy?

Liberals like you have this warped fantasy that black people are helpless and need you to save them.

This problem was solved decades ago when I was a wee tot. Fruit man use to pass with his pickup truck and sell fresh vegetables and fruit off his truck. Cash only. Do the same in 2019 ,just use a tandem axle trailer and load up at Fresh Pickings in the morning and sell the vegetables in NBR. Lots cheaper than 1.8 million and no store to build.
