Especially considering the use of general fund monies for it.
Someone can whack up exactly what percentage of general fund money $62m is but about 55% is already covering BRPD and BRFD before she decided to spend more of it on a farmer’s market in the hood.

Do you think it's a one time thing, or will it be a yearly "donation"?

Yearly “donation” I am sure

North Baton Rouge had the coolest grocery store ever in the 80s. We'd travel all the way from Village St George to shop there. I loved it.

That really is the price for the kind of lettuce you can buy in NBR.

Look, I'm fine with mixing it up, that's great. But she literally won't give tax payer money to any group led by white people if she can help it.
Go look at her history. She's incredibly racist.

90% of those people are definitely on food stamps making less than $20K/year.
Yea b/c those single unemployed moms have children and their Snap-registered address is with her mom(kids' grandma). But they actually live with their baby daddy who's an operator at Exxon or Dow making 120k a year.
That's how she drives that C class Mercedes.

From the 2019 budget:
So it appears the food desert thing was 250K a year for three years.

I'm legitimately curious where exactly the "certified" food deserts are and what the qualifications are. Just looking quickly at Google, there's Hi-Nabor on Winbourne, Shopper's Value on Hollywood, and Save A Lot on Evangeline, all in 70805. Not to mention Tony's Seafood on Plank.

Honestly curious to know how you know what form of payment people use. Are you that nosey Nancy type that stands in line looking in peoples purses and wallets while they are trying to check out. Pathetically nosey if so.

Mayor Share-on should demand that any foreign* Grocery Store operating in EBRP must open a branch somewhere in the underserved areas.
These out-of-towners can’t just cherry pick on her watch.
It’s only right.
*Corporate office not located in EBRP.

So, the future mayor of StG will have roughly $750k to spend on actual city services instead of using the government to run a grocery store.

Ah, but what if the corporate HQ is in St George?

I assume there is some demand because when I'm in the area in the mornings I'll see dudes selling oranges and other fruit at intersections.

“ Underserved “, lol. What an insidious little Progterm. Time for a reality check. Glad a could be a part of giving it to them.

I look forward to the brand new Plank Rowe in NBR to contain a new Ichiban (with a Scona and a Gravy Roll happy hour), Anthropologie, Pf Chang's, and a men's golf and clothing store. The new Amazon Headquarters across the street will compliment it well.

Wtf? Certified food deserts? There aren't any food deserts in Baton Rouge. There is at least one grocery store in every single area in the city as far as I know.
