I honestly hope this is the kiss of death for the NFL. I cannot understand why people continue to support the wokified stupid shite anymore.

No he's not. I don't agree with many of his political stances, but he's an outstanding football analyst. Assholes like you who view everything through a political lens are getting so old.

Ryan Clark is ridiculous....

I'll say this as a comparison and I'm not looking for sympathy or bragging.... just stating a fact....

I went to work on several occasions in Iraq where people did not make it through the day. Patrols were not postponed. We went right back to work.

To say these guys are putting their lives on the line is ridiculous.

Life is full of choices. Nobody HAS to play football or work dangerous jobs.

They do it because it pays more to provide for them families

Death rate for NFL players is likely in the bottom 3% of work related deaths.

So what exactly happened to this guy last night? All I saw were thread titles on here and now this thread. Did someone die?

Chuck Hughes is the only NFL player to have died on the field.

Terrible situation that happened and hope it never happens again however that comment is stupid. If that's the case, anyone playing any sports at any level is doing the same. Just b/c they are paid a lot of money doesn't make them martyrs.

The one I always like is when grown men who play a child's game who compare themselves to combat veterans or "warriors".

Not that i didn't think this line of thinking was dumb before, but after watching Band of Brothers for the first time a few years ago i get pretty irritated when i hear someone compare themselves to those men.

Idiot athletes that want to compare themselves to people in the military should be forced to watch Band of Brothers after their idiotic statement, then come out and say how they feel about comparing themselves to those men so we can truly know how delusional they may be if they don't retract their idiotic statement.

Listening to ESPN Radio, they played a sound bite where Ryan Clark said fans shouldn’t be over critical of players bc they “Put their lives on the line to play the game”.

I listed to his whole deal. To me it didn't sound like he was saying it like you seemed to take the soundbite.

From my perspective, I thought he was trying to say something along the lines of "No one expects to be putting their life on the line for a football game. So when a fellow player/teammate is killed on the field, you can't expect the players to not get freaked out and react accordingly; so you shouldn't be critical of whatever emotional outbursts occur because of it."

I realize he was revived, but a guy did die on the field during the most routine play in the game. That would freak me the frick out, so I understood that aspect of his take at least

I won't say this doesnt exist but is a very very very small minority. Can you find parallels, sure but by in large professional athletes arent running around thinking or claiming what they do is on par with war time active duty.

Agreed...I just don't think the idiotic minority is worth a ton of concern.

I would bet office workers have a higher percentage of work-related deaths than the NFL. If someone dies in your profession multiple times a year then yes you are putting your life on the line but no one has died in the NFL in ages.

Just wait till they start looking to institute more safety rules after this. We will probably end up with flag football or something.

would be willing to bet an electrician is much more “putting his life on the line” to do his job than a NFL football player is

Absolutely. Linemen get killed on the job way more often than football players. So do plant workers, police, military, farmers, etc.

I’m 32 years old. I have personally known over a dozen farmers/farmhands killed on the job. And these men didn’t make much money.

Since 1970, 1 NFL player has died on the field.

Not taking away from the tragedy yesterday, but people need to put things in perspective. Freak accidents happen in life
