There's a lot of dangerous jobs out there, many of them essential to a functional society. None of them have million dollar contracts.

Yes, those guys and gals are HEROES. Guys playing a game for huge salaries are not heroes. Lots of people have jobs where there is an amount of danger. Chemical and Oil plant workers, airplane pilots, construction workers, policemen, firemen, etc. face dangerous situations every day to provide services and products for us. They are heroes, not football players.

If this game isn't rescheduled how will it be marked?
Tie? Bills forfeit? Each team only have 16 games not 17?

Could it be that he compares NFL players to law enforcement or military personnel? Cause if he is doing that he is "dead" wrong!
Yes, their physical well being is at risk with their chosen profession, but this incident is rare...where a life is nearly lost on the field. I think to compare an NFL player to a Nascar driver is more appropriate when speaking of risks, but not "life on the line" bullshite!

It's very tragic what happened to this kid- but this is obviously an outlier case. That's not to diminish what happened- it's incredibly sad.
RC was all over the place, as usual.

Thing is, RC did not say that. He called those phrases cliches that players often recite.

Listening to ESPN Radio, they played a sound bite where Ryan Clark said fans shouldn’t be over critical of players bc they “Put their lives on the line to play the game”.
Yeah I thought the same thing last night, yet none of them seem to accept that ideology when it was a police officer involved in some type of use of force.

Yea and the poster who wished death on another poster because he though they should finish the game.

Understood but unfortunately society seems to like to make decisions based on emotion lately. I would be willing to bet an electrician is much more “putting his life on the line” to do his job than a NFL football player is and at the end of the day society actually needs electricians.
OSHA's ten most dangerous jobs:
Fishing and Hunting Workers. Fatal injury rate: 132.1 per 100,000 workers. ...
Logging Workers. ...
Roofers. ...
Construction Workers. ...
Aircraft pilots and Flight Engineers. ...
Refuse Waste and Recyclable Material Collectors. ...
Structural Iron and Steel Workers. ...
Delivery and Truck Drivers.
Convenience store and liquor store workers also expose themselves to death.
Retail Trade Store Deaths

I wonder how over critical Clark is of police officers

I’m sorry but if a 6 year old can do your job, you’re not “putting lives on the line.”
Ask a police officer in Baltimore or New Orleans, a firefighter in California during wildfires, logging workers, oil rig workers etc. those guys put their lives on the line to improve someone else’s life and don’t get paid millions.
It’s deeply sad what happened to Demar Hamlin and everyone should be praying for him/his family. No one wants that for anyone.

Instant death maybe but playing in the NFL does reduce lifespan

I never said they should finish the game though. Anita got dramatic and lashed out.

Granted, they put their bodies at risk but the choose to do so for fame and money.

The one I always like is when grown men who play a child's game who compare themselves to combat veterans or "warriors".

Is a disgraceful turd of a character. A shame that he played for the purple and gold.

Would give the chiefs the bye and both these teams beat them and would have had the leg up after last night. None of the make up scenarios logistically make a lot of sense though either

They are far from warriors and going to war. If they were at war they sure as hell wouldn’t have been able to stop the game/war if they were. Know many guys who got hurt/killed and guess what the bullets didn’t stop flying because of someone’s feelings.
Don’t misunderstand me either. I think it’s a sad situation for Hamlin.

No it isn’t.

Watching humans do things we cannot do and wouldn’t do because most fans are risk averse.
Just about 100% of human males would be a professional athlete if they had the genetics that predisposed them to do it. It has nothing to do with “would” and everything to do with “could.”
We watch it because we grew up playing it, and because it’s highly entertaining.
