One with multiple concussions (that he himself caused with reckless tackling) at that

Overreaction for sure. It’s no secret to anyone that football is a dangerous sport. It’s partly why they’re compensated so well.

It’s also voluntary. We aren’t talking Roman coliseum here.

Ryan Clark is melodramatic.

last night when i was googling a video of the Hamlet injury, i had to look through several egregious hits he laid on opponents. I somehow doubt this is a man who wishes for the entire league to pause for him

Cinderella Man quote-

quote:

Jim Braddock: You think you're telling me something? Like, what, boxing is dangerous, something like that? You don't think working triple shifts and at night on a scaffold isn't just as likely to get a man killed? What about all those guys who died last week living in cardboard shacks to save on rent money just to feed their family, 'cause guys like you have not quite figured out a way yet to make money off of watching that guy die? But in my profession - and it is my profession - I'm a little more fortunate.

And a race-baiting a-hole.

Football is full of violent collisions, but "putting your life on the line" is obviously a little ridiculous. Not to mention they are paid handsomely, trained to the hilt, and have access to the very best in health, nutrition, facilities, healthcare, etc.

It's not exactly the same thing as a policeman, firefighter, soldier, film crew on an Alec Baldwin movie, etc.

the MSB over reactions were borderline ‘tRant after a loss’ wild yesterday for an hour or two.
Which is why I avoid those threads like the plague.

All the men on this site acting overly dramatic like children.

Everyone trying to one up everyone else with their level of outrage or grief.

Listening to ESPN Radio, they played a sound bite where Ryan Clark said fans shouldn’t be over critical of players bc they “Put their lives on the line to play the game”.
Clark is a drama Queen and has victim mentality in the worst way.

Guys like Ryan Clark try so hard to make it seem like football is more than just a game and the players are more than entertainers but in the end that’s all they are. If they want to be looked at as more than that maybe they should choose another profession. The hero bullshite they try to attach to professional athletes is ridiculous.

I think they make a decision just like all of us

Is it worth it?

On the surface- it’s Millions of dollars but risk injury- even paralysis.
In the back of the mind there’s thought of dying but that is really remote. The risk of paralysis is relatively high and that’s a fate very few would accept money to accept.

This is why we watch the sport. Watching humans do things we cannot do and wouldn’t do because most fans are risk averse.

Imo, This incident appears to be something beyond the actions on the field.

x1000. i don’t know what made my stomach curl more: the injury or a bunch of grown men acting like Karen’s on Facebook trying to one up each other’s outrage reaction.

there is a risk but I dont believe it is high. I doubt there are many people that wouldnt trade profession and lifestyle with an nfl player.
