Afghanistan
Iraqi
viet nam
Korea
Yemen
Kosovo
all of them, infantry did not win
Kuwait
infantry did win, difference was overwhelming force
Ukraine trench fighting is only a perpetual war class room exercise to develop weaponry killing foot soldiers.

ou will always need infantry. You need infantry to occupy land, govern and or control populations, maintain order, provide security, and do all the things infantry does now.
For what? We are not an occupying force for the most part anymore and we shouldnt be.

The first 4 you listed here are such lazy arse takes it’s incredible.
The US military’s infantry, when operating in wartime, is the most incredible killing force in human history. The US military as a whole, is unrivaled in all of human history in terms of capabilities, especially combined arms capability.
The US infantry in those first four you listed performed like lions, and did not lose a single battle in that time period. In a military sense, we have not lost a single war.

This is a false statement. Technology advances will make drones harder to operate. The more interesting thing to watch is hypersonic missile defense.
Drones equipped with advanced AI that don’t need to check back to a human operator will be difficult.
Imagine the difficulty detecting a small quad copter the size of a beer can that’s designed to find a human form and explode…. No radio emissions to jam

No what will (and is) happening is counter drone units will be added to infantry units. Either as a squad in the infantry or attached like medics, Fisters, and JTACs are.
I can eventually see scramblers being small enough to be mounted on a rifle and having a few designated infantrymen in a squad like you have with greanders.
Also mounted units are starting to have scramblers added to the vehicle as countermeasures for drones.

War will eventually just be waged by robot soldiers and drones.

In the last battle of Afghanistan during the hasty RETREAT, 13 young Americans and a couple hundred locals were killed as a result of piss poor American leadership.

r/Combatfootage shows what a $300 drone and a few grenades can do to a conventional battlefield.
The thing that's crazy to me is the video of the Belarusian drone that lands on a Russian AWACS cockpit on the ground, and detonates. That is going to be a problem. Reddit link to Russian AWACs destruction
A guy with a backpack and a $300 drone w/ some C4 can destroy $100M+ aircraft from miles away. I'm not sure how you defend this, but someone better figure it out because this will be an issue at every US airfield.

Without question the greatest military machine ever created, furthermore the US military is so good in fact, it is further ahead of its competition in overall warfare than any other country ever in existence at any time period.
The first time we saw real modern capability, although only a fraction of what we can do, was the run through Iraq in less than a month. Iraq at the time had 1 million soldiers. Iraq is 62% the size of Texas. Key words mobilization and logistics.
Lastly the US military has been brilliant at keeping quiet as to never allow the enemy to bait them into a dick measuring contest.

The general population didn’t want us there long term. We won the battles in Iraq, we won in Afghanistan we won in Vietnam, but we lost the occupation and drones can’t fix that.
Vietnam and Afghanistan are more unique but the general idea is the same
You seem to be overlooking the common denominator.. you can only win long term with occupying infantry where the populace wants you there.. Kuwait was a liberation where theywelcomed us. South korea is still autonomous as well.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make here. That infantry is obsolete? The other side had infantry too.

Agreed. When President trump reduced the troop level to 2,000, yeah 2,000 troops for all of Afghanistan our Intel mission in Afghanistan came to a halt. Had it been allowed to continue maybe we would have known the ANA cut a deal with the Taliban.

They've been saying the same thing about Main Battle Tanks for decades too. Yet Russia nor Ukraine can get their hands on them fast enough.

You picked the worst war to make this claim. Them dudes are fighting trench warfare which is from WWI and you say infantry is obsolete. How many wars have you fought in?
Strange war indeed. Hand to hand in some trenches followed by flying drones loaded with gernades and explosives into a trench a few hundred yards away.
