Infantry in the military, obsoleted by drones

The Ukraine war fiasco will change that one aspect of the military forever, as drones/robotics will totally replace the infantry function. Small cheap drones/robotics are demonstrating the ability to get in tight with bullets and explosives and trench fighting can be no more. Add in artificial intelligence to the controller and the only defense is a EMT attack.

War will eventually just be waged by robot soldiers and drones.

People have long predicted the obsoletion of infantry… but in the end you will need boots on the ground for the foreseeable future.
Drone counter measures will come - just like anti aircraft did in response to aircraft.
The US Navy is already testing and deploying lasers to deal with drone swarms in a cost effective manner.

No.
Nothing will replace the Infantry. You need live soldiers to keep territory.
They're already here.
Anti-drone guns shower a drone in radio frequency jamming it and, in some cases, allowing you to control and capture the device.

Wouldn't soldiers start carrying an EMP device and take out all the tech with the press of a button?

This is a false statement. Technology advances will make drones harder to operate. The more interesting thing to watch is hypersonic missile defense.

you will need them but who is gonna volunteer when the odds of getting killed by something you never see/can't even shoot back at keep going up.
I guess the poors.

Been coming for a while. Body suits will be coming out and we will have one man/women that can direct a battle field from the ground with the support able to see everything real time with relatable frame of reference. Its going to be wild.
China, Russia, etc. do not want any of what we can give them.

True, but there's plenty of anti-jamming countermeasures. Military has been using frequency hopping and other anti-jamming methods for decades on airplanes.

That’s never going to happen. The over-reliance on drones will eventually result in soldiers who fight better against drones, and incorporate drones themselves.
The more you rely on technology in war, the more you train your enemies to defeat your technology. Sure, you will have an advantage for a while, but you better win during that period.
The most effective tool in winning a war is willpower. The second most effective tool is an achievable goal. The third most effective tool is money and supply. Technology should assist these tools in keeping wars short. Because when wars get long, the three tools start unraveling.

You picked the worst war to make this claim. Them dudes are fighting trench warfare which is from WWI and you say infantry is obsolete. How many wars have you fought in?

You will always need infantry. You need infantry to occupy land, govern and or control populations, maintain order, provide security, and do all the things infantry does now.
Don't forget for every advance like drones and tanks there are always countermeasures. Sure mounted cavalry are absolute as are arrows and swords and spears, but you still need soldiers to occupy land.

These are all great guesses, y'all.
What are the winning lottery numbers?

You can’t win a war without physical troops on the ground occupying territory.. Drones are the weapon de jour much like all new weapons. They will be balanced with future technology in the works.. scramblers being the most obvious.
