How the hell were you spending over $4k a year on auto insurance and not think something wasn’t right?

Just crazy.
I have high coverage with Allstate and I pay right around $940/yr
Don't miss high La car insurance rates.

I have GEICO car and home insurance. Have had zero issues with them. They’ve cut me large checks for a totaled car and a flooded house. GEICO is backed by Warren Buffett

Does anyone have Metlife, Liberty Mutual or Travelers? I dont know anyone with them to ask how they are.

I had liberty mutual. Had to file a claim on my house within the 1st year of owning the house to replace the roof. No issues, quick to resolve, fair value in replacing etc

Ended up switching just for cost savings(have all State currently). I typically shop around around every 2-3 years. Hardly anyone offers loyalty/cost savings these days.

If you aren’t with USAA you’re doing it wrong.

Probably not a lot of members here over 50, but AARP insures autos and homes through The Hartford and when I went with them a few years ago I saved over $3k per year for the same coverages I had with my former company.

Just joined AARP because of this, I’m gonna do a little insurance shopping.

Is there anything better than Geico? I still got them but I was paying $93 a month for car insurance and then redid my coverage and got it dropped down to $73. That lasted 2 months before GEICO raised my rates back up to $90. So basically they are giving me less coverage for the same price, when I have yet to get into a wreck or file any claims.

When this happened I searched around and they still had the best rates but I'm sure there is someone out there that is still better. What say you OT.

I love Geico. I’ve had them most of my adult life, and have dealt with them for a few claims (most recently when I totaled my car over the summer). They met me and gave me a check the day after the accident. I’ve always found them to be extremely responsive and have fantastic customer service. I pay out the arse now since the wreck was my fault, but I’m not switching.

I have Geico. They paid thousands of dollars when I had a wreck. It was legally my fault. But hey, I'm not the one who comes to a complete stop at a fork in the highway when I'm not sure which direction to take.

My rates went from $47 to $58 a month on a $33,000 vehicle, but at the end of the day, nobody can beat Geico's rates.

You have full coverage? Because thats not terrible. If you get into even a minor fender-bender it could cost the insurance co 5k between your vehicle and the other persons. And the chances of a fender bender happening in the next 5 years isn't terribly unlikely. So it would take 4 1/2 years of premiums for them to even break even.

All this to say the in the era of 70k trucks and suburbans, accidents have gotten very expensive.

What do you mean by this? I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with geico.

We've had Allstate, State Farm and Geico and I think my wife had at least one claim with all 3. I didn't notice much difference between the 3 to be honest.

I've been a State Farm customer for 20 years. My current auto bill is $58/month and that's with enough coverage to qualify for an umbrella policy to take over after that.

If your premium was over the $300 you said you saved then you're doing something seriously wrong.

Louisiana insurance rates. He may have a young driver on his. It's not uncommon for it to be $300 per month for a teen driver here.

Oh, I know. But that's the financial consequence of having a teen driver.

Stare Farm 50/100/50. $543 for 6 months. Seems reasonable to me
