LGA is easily the worst airport I've ever experienced

Really depends on where you are in the city.

If I’m leaving from my place (upper east side) - LGA is perfect

From work (downtown Manhattan/financial district) - JFK / Newark

I almost always would rather fly into LGA just because it’s way easier to get home. JFK can take 1hr + for me to get home. No thanks.

I avoid La Guardia at all costs. I recommend everyone else do the same. NYC has 2 better options.

All 3 suck.
At least La Guardia is much closer to Midtown.
I have never been as frustrated with an airport as I was at JFK.

No, it really isn't. I'd take Newark over both JFK and LGA.

I hate Newark more than LaGuardia, but that's because Newark actively hinders your travel plans whenever possible.

LaGuardia is like an airport that's morphing into a bus station. Grimy. Outdated.

-However- I've never had a problem getting in or out of LGA. I've ridden the bus to the subway and that wasn't a big deal.

Never really have issues at Newark or JFK, but I mostly travel solo when I go and I don't mind using public transit from the airports.

LGA is a little different, I have to plan for a car since using transit involves a really horrible bus transfer and all of the construction (especially at Delta) makes it rough right now.

The one time I went to Laguradia, I had a limo pick me up, so I am unfamiliar with the plight of the peasants

It may have changed since I flew into LaGuardia returning from Europe in the early 2000s, but I recall at the time being surprised how shitty and run down the airport looked aesthetically considering it is a (the) gateway destination into the U.S. for international flights.

Do we have to stand in the back of the line when we get to Terminal A?” Charles pehlivanian of Manhattan asked.

I don’t understand people waiting in those ridiculous LGA taxi stand lines, and New Yorkers at that, when Dial 7 or Carmel is usually only $5-$10 more than a cab. Not to mention Uber/Lyft.

Yeah some of the rideshare people at LGA are shady but so are some of the cabs.

i agree with this. We flew into there a few months back and it was a chaotic shithole. From the baggage pickup to their crazy shuttle system to get to our rental car.

Fly into Hartford... it's not that crowded if you are not in a major rush and if you play it right you can be at Grand Central in 2-2.5 hours

I've yet to go through LGA, JFK has always been my NYC airport. This story makes me glad I haven't yet had to divert.

Flying into or out of NYC sucks a bag of dicks in general.

I always take the overnight Amtrak from ATL to NYC if I'm headed up there. 16 hour ride with a bedroom on the train and eat dinner and breakfast in the diner. It drops you off at Penn Station which is right smack dab in the middle of Manhattan, and you can either walk or hop right on the ABC or 123.

I'm not in Atlanta, but this is a really fun idea. The extra cost for the sleeper car more than offsets the costs of getting to/from the airports by private car. That said, its probably not that practical for business travel for most.

Where are you? That same train departs from NOLA as its origin station.
