My Bermuda is struggling, but somehow the damn weeds are thriving.

Fall weather can't get here soon enough. It's been a brutal summer.
It's been a weird spring/summer.

Remember, it started off raining every damn day in March, April and May. And heavy rains, my back yard was under standing water a few times. I still have a portable sump pump under the house.

And then, the rain just stopped and the temps went up to 100.
I went from cutting 2-3 times a week (or scalping it just to buy more time between cuts), to haven't used the mower in at least a month.
I think I lucked up, I cut it after the last heavy rain, and haven't needed to since. Nor is it dead, although it sure ain't bright green anymore.

We never go above the gallon threshold for our water so I can sprinkle everyday, same price. Left my sprinkler on all night a few weeks ago, no change in the bill.

If you aren’t watering St Aug or centipede it will die. Bermuda will bounce back.

I water the foundation twice a week and the yard once. It's all Bermuda and will go dormant in high heat anyway. frick it.

I've been watering mine. Not every day but often enough. It's nice and green. I don't have a large lawn though and it's really not a big chore. I do it right after dark and it's usually nice outside with a nice breeze.

I live in the country and raise cattle. My "lawn" is 5 acres ot so of field grass I mow with my ztr. I'm not watering that shite.

My friend has cattle and has been watering her cow pasture. She says it's cheaper than buying more feed.

Do y'all think the grass is gonna come back if we ever get rain again? Or is it actually dying?

It will most certainly come back if you have the "usual" stuff and not some exotic variety. It's dormant right now. Give it a good rain, and it'll be just fine.

I have a very nice underground sprinkler system so I would not know what this problem feels like with the yard.

managed to keep mine alive but I’m about done with car note sized water bills.

My water is included in HOA so I run my sprinklers all the time. Shits still burnt in a lot of places.

I hope not. Mowing that jungle once a week was killing me. Told the wife “frick that grass, I hope it dies”. For whatever reason it means a whoooole lot to her.

I’m admiring mine rt now. I just didn’t cut it as low as I usually do. Looks real good.

Did have a few patches of above knee weeds. Things sprouted up instantly after the rain.

can't imagine how hot the turf would be in this heat.

The stuff I have is different from field turf. It’s not hotter than regular grass.

If I lived in a trailer park, I wouldn’t care about weeds in my grass either
