It's not that they're just absent-mindedly accidentally portraying a vision that isn't exactly the norm.
Certainly not. If all ads portrayed "the norm", they would be pretty boring. Yes, choosing a theme for an ad is quite a conscious decision.

They are nakedly pushing an agenda in order to push stereotypes of some groups of people and refute others.
It's always an "agenda". Again, the only thing on the agenda is making money.

You're looking way too deep into this. Where's the dishonesty? The hatred?

This is a damned lie. If they wanted to make money they’d advertise how awesome their razor blades and shaving cream are

I can assure you that the motive behind any commercial is to make more money. Whether you personally think a particular ad will be successful toward that goal is your own opinion.

Solely? Can other motives not exist simultaneously?

Having said that, their commercial is 100% spot on when it comes to the way I try to raise my son.

Am I Gillette's son?

The merits of the issues they raise are 100% secondary to the fact that it is not their role to raise them in the first place.

seriously everyone, we the people of the united states of america need to respect all women, especially moms. and we need to shut the porn industry down as their only goal is to sexually explode all those chicks for a profit.

They've already done that a thousand times over.

But yeah go ahead and think you know how to make more money than one of the most valuable brands in the world.

Sure, but not at the cost of making less money.

Because I live in reality. Because I am not burdened by constant paranoid delusions. Because Gillette is in a fight for their lives, battling cheap delivered razors and the beard movement.

Nah, this ad was designed for Tumblr posters like you to come out of the woodwork and defend a megacorporation (with shady practices) because they told big meanie men to "do better y'all"

dude, this is a discussion board, that's a broad sweep of the brush for just bringing something up for discussion, besides, are we supposed to be nice little lemmings and just ignore/accept everything without question?

You're being naive and obviously overly sensitive.

One can take the position that Gillette is not engaged in some overt conspiracy to destroy masculinity and/or Western Civilization while simultaneously believing that certain motives of those behind ad campaigns are driving the campaigns.

Your reality comment is, as I said, rather naive. You probably have little experience in the Fortune 500 corporate space if you think that corporations do not engage in actions that may not have a direct financial benefit, or that may even have net costs.

Dude, do you not see how many people actually believe that Gillette, a 100 year old brand, one of the strongest in the world, and one facing more competition now than it has in a long time, is sacrificing profit to push some global socialist agenda to pussify the world? If that's not delusion, what is?

No, you are free to talk about Gillette as much as you want. In fact, these public threads only strengthen my point that this ad is intended to make money. And who knows? Maybe we'll also see a few more men acting like real men, too.

mmmmmk, you seem pretty emotionally vested in all of this, doesn't really mean shite to me, and probably the same for most in this thread, I've been tied to this desk all day but I'm just about done, I'm getting ready to grab a beer, go out to the boat slip and make sure it's ready for the upcoming freeze, doubt any of this shite will cross my mind again, unless this thread is Germaned or bumped

I don't disagree, but most of the argument in this thread is that it's a bad decision because they are basically lecturing their target market and most people are tired of being lectured to.

And while a lot of what is lectured in the commercial is something that most everyone agrees with it does a bad job by lumping every man in as bad and using bullshite stereotypes to push the message.

I'm naive because I don't buy into the "liberal elites conspiracy" shite? And sensitive? I'm not the one feeling like my manhood is threatened by a commercial.

One can take that position if he is paranoid, yes.

Just look at all of this free publicity for Gillette. This may be one of their most financially successful ad campaigns in a long time.
