Not all but some of your small business owners are like this. We had a plumber come give us a quote for $23k to fix some piping under our raised house and clear out some old crap that’s been under the house since built in 1902. He rolled up in a brand new GMC truck with all the bells and whistles. We ended up going with him out my my discretion because he friend of a friend. The only time I actually saw the guy was when he gave us the quote and when he came and picked up the check. The project took 4 days stretched out over two consecutive weekends and only one guy did all the work which was a non English speaking gentleman in an old 2 door Honda. A plumbing supply company delivered the pipes to our house. When he was finished he left all the scraps and dirt along our side yard for me to pick up. I wonder how much of that $23k the worker actually saw?
Than this should be a lesson to you to become a plumber.
Your money. You certainly had the option to say no or get ten more quotes.

We had another quote that was in the same ballpark but went with the guy we used because someone close to us knew him and he did “great work”
No doubt going under a house is expensive but I think the two quotes were a bit inflated due to how short the project actually took. There wasn’t even $2k worth of material used.

There’s no denying that greed and other sins are in the hearts of men.
There’s no denying that wealth and power can be corrupting.
The mistake is to assume that the problem lies in the specific economic system, or that the poor are any different in their heart and in their actions than the rich.
The utopian thinking of the left and their plans for fixing things always make things worse.

Because rich people make their money off the backs of working people. They leech off the working man like the welfare douches leech off the government. Rich people are evil.
I know that this is a troll post, but it is instructive. "Working people" are laboring (pun intended) under the delusion that what they do is more valuable than what the owners of capital do (put assets at risk). First of all, there are almost no business owners who are not also toiling away with things (laboring) every day. They aren't on perpetual vacation. Second, we have laws in this country that guarantee you will get paid for your labor. None of your labor is ever risked. Ownership may labor and toil, lose everything, and wind up in debt. Ownership needs labor and vice versa, but there are a lot more people capable of mere labor than there are those capable of ownership.

All you fricking people afraid of the red or pink menace taking over the american way of life need to get a fricking grip.
The "have nots" bitching about the "haves" is about 200,000 years older than all this "one percent" bullshite people won't shut up about. None of this shite is new. Not even a little.
Yes there are pockets of socialistic ideals in this country but as a nation, we are so fricking far away from socialism, that's it not worth discussing. Socialism can only take national root during tough economic times and i mean real tough. Remember that bullshite "new deal" your grandparents would never shut up about? Even at our worst, the "new deal" was as bad as socialism got in this country.
Every single social/cultural construct we have is built upon pure capitalism. So successful is capitalism in fact, that the largest communist country in the world had to adopt it to survive.
The United states and china are so economically entwined, we might as well be connected at the hip. We had mutually assured nuclear destruction with the USSR. We have a lighter economic version of that with china.
Despite the fact that china, with all of it's somewhat mythical capitalistic success, it's still the worlds largest 3rd world country. We could end trade with china next week and ultimately survive the ensuing economic depression. But china? Not so much. They would be thrown into civil war and mass starvation. They need us far more than we could ever need them.
The US can always find some other 3rd world toilet to build it's garbage. Just look to and past the southern border.
Some of you frickers need to turn off the talk radio and get back to work. Or instead of watching that dick smoker sean hannity, maybe tune into the "create" channel on PBS.
That's right, i said it. PBS.

You're right on this. Those political talk shows keep people thinking there is a threat right around the corner. They need to keep people scared because that is what pays their bills. Drum up fear and have people listen to your show and send you money because, after all, where else would they get the truth?
Posted on 6/11/19 at 10:45 am to Bjorn Cyborg
So be considered to be part of the 1 percent (you know those people that control the world), all you have to do is have enough disposable income to book someone on a 'whim' for less than $25 an hour?
TIL I'm part of the 1%.

There are alot of political low foreheads in this country and they're very easy to manipulate. All you have to do is foment outrage and paranoia. That's it, that's all.
These people are too fricking lazy minded to take in and process what they see and experience in their day to day lives and integrate that into their ideas about the world around them.
They have to be told what to be afraid of and what are people afraid of right now? The so called "millennial" and their marxist tendencies.
What a bunch of fricking assholes.
These fricking low foreheads are afraid of millennials the way the so called greatest generation was afraid of hippies and the way hippies were afraid of gen exers.

Keep believing that trickle down will get to you. Productivity is at all time highs, but pay is stagnant.
Think about how you think wealth is distributed, how it should be distributed, and then watch this.

It's not that there aren't lazy freeloaders. But the rich have convinced too nany that those few are the problem.

Bernie Sanders, a self proclaimed socialist, was cheated out of the Democrat nominee for president.
Half the country was going to vote for him.
His agenda is free healthcare, free school, and tax the ever living hell out of everyone to get it

I'm far from a rightwinger and I agree talk radio (and cable "news") plays to the lowest common denominator. My beef with Millenials and the generations coming behind them is not based on fear of Marxism, which I agree is overblown. It's that they are (with some notable exceptions) weak and soft.
