A well adjusted person has “ life is not fair “ drilled into them by their parents as a child. This way they start in GRATITUDE for what they have instead of resentment for what other people have. It’s like a basic prerequisite for a happy life. To rage against basic human nature and to have entitlement in your heart is a form of slavery. It cripples your development. You end up worshipping the materialism you claim to loathe.

Well said. It seems most people judge wealth based on comparison, rather than what they actually have.
Outside of drug addicts and the mentally ill, there are no poor people in the United States in ACTUAL terms.
There are certainly people who are RELATIVELY poor.
The girl in the OP would be rich in most countries and is likely top 5 percent IN THE WORLD in income.

That article is sloppy drunk with cultural Marxism.
I generally don’t run across those types of articles because I mostly live in a traditional bubble of reality. Wherever I run across it, I fight the good fight and mock it with much derision.
I’d imagine that it’s hard to escape that attitude living in certain areas of the country.

We used to look at rich successful people and want to be more like them.
A growing percentage of our population is looking at them with jealousy and hatred and want to rob them.

Not all but some of your small business owners are like this. We had a plumber come give us a quote for $23k to fix some piping under our raised house and clear out some old crap that’s been under the house since built in 1902. He rolled up in a brand new GMC truck with all the bells and whistles. We ended up going with him out my my discretion because he friend of a friend. The only time I actually saw the guy was when he gave us the quote and when he came and picked up the check. The project took 4 days stretched out over two consecutive weekends and only one guy did all the work which was a non English speaking gentleman in an old 2 door Honda. A plumbing supply company delivered the pipes to our house. When he was finished he left all the scraps and dirt along our side yard for me to pick up. I wonder how much of that $23k the worker actually saw?
