lol no. In this case yes, but I can think of a million scenarios where you should be given a medal if you kill certain people.

Exactly. They can’t deliver the mail or balance a budget, but can determine guilt and issue life and death decisions? No thanks.

Child murderers and those who rape children should be eliminated.

We need to speed up the time in which they are eliminated imo.

They also need to stop letting these people PC. General population only. Let the prisoners sort them out.

Without reading the link, which is do you think is most punishment, death or living in a cage for 50 years or so?

Depends on the cage, maybe?

If there's a hell and an eternity, does 50 years matter one way or the other?

Sometimes, to me, death seems too easy of a price.

Now, if torture was an option...

That exact thing happened in Georgia in 2011.

And yeah, that’s a situation where he very likely did it, but it’s not enough undeniable evidence, 1989 evidence by the way, and this shouldn’t be a case where the death penalty is an option.
His claim is he didn’t have the gun, but he was there at the scene of the murder being a criminal. They found bloody shorts at his house the next day, which was deemed inadmissible b/c the police didn’t get a warrant to search his house and instead just went in and searched without permission. He left town right after the shooting and only returned to turn himself in b/c his drug dealers were threatening his family if he didn’t.

Again, this is not a situation where the death penalty should be enacted, but a cop was murdered so our judicial system will be a bit irrational trying to serve justice b/c of that, which is dumb.
And again, this was 15 years ago. This happens today and we’d know he was at the scene just from his phone location.

You don't actually think that is the main reason they have low crime rate/safe place do you?

I'm not disagreeing with your first part, that guy should be put down, but there are tons of factors that are a deterrent for criminals in Singapore than the threat of the death penalty.

I really thing we should vast areas that are closed in, or islands that should be self sufficient in terms of farming, animals, and water. Drop them off and let them deal with each other.

I really don't get you people. There are monsters. Simple as that. They stole a life and they don't deserve another breath of fresh air. Prison is far better than death. They don't deserve that and I don't want my tax money going to housing a monster.

This monster deserves a combination of the Mongolian box followed by the pyre.

he "reduction of harm" is wholly dependent on how much of their time got sucked away.

There's a point where it not only becomes minimal, but is probably a detriment to stick a dying elderly person back into society with no support structure.

Minimal in your opinion but to someone who was locked away for decades getting even one day of freedom, the opportunity to hold a loved ones hand, eat a good meal, take in life's simple pleasures it would be a dream come true. It wouldnt be a fix but it would be better than them being murdered by the state years ago for a crime they didnt commit.

I think they have strict laws and enforce them and have severe punishment and consequences thus deterring criminal activity.

as I stated before that, our adult daycare jail system and soft judges who let out repeat offenders with no real consequences contribute to crime which eventually leads up to rape and murder.

quote:

What’s there to explain, if you think the guy who raped and murdered a little girl shouldn’t be put to death, then your soft on crime stance is why people continue to commit crimes. No different than the judges who continually release repeat offenders until they rape and murder some one.

This is why Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world because they don’t put up with bullshite.

There's a lot of shite that haunts me about this case but the one that breaks my heart the most is her question.

"Are you a kidnapper?"

I don't know how to articulate how that question makes me feel. I imagine the torrent of mixed feelings pouring out of that little girl. Seven years old, all the trust and naivete in the world, brought to bear in that one little poignant question.

I can feel her innocence just being sapped away.

It's as if he purposefully gave her time to process the fact that something really bad was about to happen to her. I almost hate that more than the physical abuse that he actually inflicted.

Yep, this one has done a number on me as well. The audio played in court is supposedly horrific. The punishment this guy deserves can't even be described.
