re: If you're not a Christian, is there any point to marriage?

Marriage has been around for thousands of years, even before Christ. The Christian idea of marriage came because Christ sanctified marriage. He taught that marriage is between one man and one woman. He did this to reflect the Holy Trinity. As God is Father/Son/Holy Spirit, a community of persons in one, so goes the family one father/one mother/children.
You see The Father loves The Son and the Son loves the Father. The love They share is The Holy Spirit. Just like a human father loves his wife and his wife loves the husband, and the love they share produces the child. It’s really all about showing the world about the Holy Trinity and true, authentic love.

There are many, many secular reasons for people to get married. There is a ton of scholarly research that shows that there are benefits to marriage, particularly a good marriage--higher levels of happiness, better health outcomes, for example. And if one has children, the benefits of being married are substantial. Children in either single-parent homes or who live with cohabiting parents/adults are less favorable outcomes on a wide range of attributes--educational attainment and learning, emotional stability, relationship stability, and happiness. Of course being in a terrible marriage has its negative consequences, but if the choice is between cohabiting and marriage with a loving partner, marriage usually leads to better outcomes.

Jesus Christ lmfao
The devil/god/whatever you believe isn’t worried about the atrocities occurring simultaneously all over the world, 24/7, they’re worried about two people fricking for a lifetime?

How do gays getting married have any impact on anyone’s life whatsoever outside of taxes? Like what’s an example of a societal problem caused by gays marrying?

So you should marry someone purely on religious basis? What benefit does getting married bring to Christianity or Christianity to getting married? You could literally ask the opposite question and it would be as logical. If you're Christian, is there any point to marriage? The two concepts overlap, but are indirectly related.

I mean, you asked what impact gays getting married have had, not if straights caused the same problem.
Theoretically fewer people married will result in fewer divorces.

You realize that priest/rabbi/ministers are religiously marrying people first, and legally marrying them as a perk, right?
They don't need a marriage certificate to perform a marriage.

Nope, there is no point.. which is why i wont get married again .
All marriage is, is a religious, governmental contract.. im not religious, and im definitely not a fan of governement- so if i meet a special woman in the future and we want to be together , then so be it- but im not getting the government and the church involved .

My three-year daughter gave me some word salad about Paw Patrol and Spider-Man a few minutes ago and it was about as grounded in reality as this is.

Marriage is a commitment. It demonstrates a level of commitment that just shacking up cannot replicate.
