How do you know the gun is loaded?

he’s a crazy person intent on showing his gun off in public and daring someone to ask him to leave it at home.

so this scenario gives you the right to steal?

Are you more likely to become a victim of bully Bob open carrying a 1911 with his family at dinner. Or ladarius with his sagging pants and gold teef?

I'm more likely to be a shooting victim by the person with the gun.

What is it about someone having a gun that makes you shite your pants? Do you have the same reaction if you look over and see someone with a big steak knife in their hand?

Correct. The author, and Rex, see this as a social justice way of forcing private business to adopt their preferred policy under the pretense that they are truly deathly afraid.

It's the epitome of a dishonest argument.

We aren't getting what we want so let's try a different tactic... FEAR.

So you think just because someone has a gun on their person that makes them a crazy person?

Hmmm... what's crazier

- A person eating dinner at a restaurant with a sidearm for personal protection

- A grown man making videos while dressed up as a dog

so now I can steal if I suspect someone in the restaurant is crazy?

I don't think I'm ever paying for a meal again

It's interesting that even the NRA originally condemned open carry into restaurants, but then bowed to pressure and retracted.

What's the point of openly carrying an unloaded weapon? Jewelry?

it could be one of two things: either he’s a crazy person intent on killing someone or he’s a crazy person intent on showing his gun off in public and daring someone to ask him to leave it at home

You neglect all middle ground. You assume that the person practicing is going to walk around with a tacticool rifle. Most likely what you will see is someone with a holstered pistol. The author is promoting running away and forcing a financial burden on the business as soon as you see a weapon. He is advocating you running out when you see your ex-LSPD, deacon neighbor with his ruger in a holster on his side just as quickly as if Jim Bob from the trailer park comes in with his tacticool Armalite.

Gun-control advocates lack the fundamental education to make any argument. That's why they rely on emotion and dishonesty (as in the OP). Just stick to DU with the other low-info gun-control folks, you'll be happier.

His point is that it's not stealing if you're genuinely concerned about your safety. I agree with him.

I'm sure this has been responded to, but why is he genuinely concerned about his safety? Because a gun is present? I'm sure there are knives in the kitchen at the restaurant. Do those not scare him? Cars in the parking lot can be just as deadly. Do those not scare him?

We as a society definitely have a violence problem. The difference is what we believe is the solution. Do we blame the guns themselves, or do we blame the person. From there do we fix "guns" or do we fix the underlying problem....the people who do the heinous acts. We've got people willing to kill with pressure cookers and nails. I grew up around hunting guns, etc. and I just do not feel uncomfortable because a gun is present. Now when someone seems unstable or irresponsible and also has a gun, different story. But I'm not running out of a store because Joe Blow has a gun. I mean how can you trust a cop with a gun. He/She is just a guy with a job that lets them carry. They can just as easily be deranged.

The former is an immediate danger to all around him. If you fear the latter then never go to Mardi Gras.

Do people here really eat at restaurants where other patrons open carry long guns?
