The are stealing, period. Your brain is wired like an English auto, just fricked.

You could tell that to the judge... but the professor said I didn't have to pay. I'm sure that will be a solid defense.

So..... If I walk in a restaurant, and ladarius walks in with his sagging pants and gold teef and sits next to me, It's perfectly acceptable for me to get up and leave without paying? Statistically speaking, the urban ladarius is far more likely to commit a crime than Billy Bob with his open carry 1911.

Rex,

Serious question...How many times have you been in a restaurant where some goober was present with a rifle strapped around his shoulder(s)?

Never... but if I saw that I'd leave immediately.

Uhh..... Doggie doesn't know what stealing means.... If you take something without paying, or eat food at a restaurant and leave without paying, you are stealing.

I've never seen someone walk into a restaurant with a rifle, but I'd leave immediately also if I saw it.

so at what point is "fear" no longer a valid excuse for not paying (re: stealing)?

where do you draw the line for this justification?

Some pro gun a-hole open carries in public to make people uncomfortable and make a point. So in retaliation some anti gun a-hole overreacts and, in the process, steals goods in order to make a point.

Both points are stupid and very political in nature. It's political theater at its worst.

I'm pretty sure walking out without paying is gonna get you charged with theft. You can use the philosophy professor defense as much as you want but I doubt the police will give a shite.

You realize that stealing as a word does not have a qualifier to its definition regarding fear?

You cant just change words haha.

Not necessarily. If the building were on fire do you have a moral obligation to stop and pay the tab? Nope.

If the restaurant's safety practices greatly increased the likelihood of a fire then no judge nor moral person would convict you (or even accuse you) of stealing.

Blacks should do this every time a police officer shows up at a restaurant.

It'll work.

In other words, you're looking for excuses to dine and dash.

How not surprising.
