Something along the lines of Nashville or Atlanta. Cities that have enough to do but also have appealing natural beauty. Jones Creek and the refineries just aren't doing it for me in BR.

Central or north louisiana for 1 year.
Would humble and scare any young man into appreciating what they have, and then the reward of graduating and leaving.

Looking for smaller big cities. Need outdoor recreation( eg. kayaking), breweries, hot weather, etc.
If you do well, I think Boston and San Diego are the ticket
If you do ok but somewhat need to think about money, I think Nashville, Asheville, Boise are good bets

Austin, Ive found chatanooga, Tampa, DC,ST Louis, Dallas( maybe), Boise, Atlanta, Philly,
Random grouping of cities here. Austin is not a ‘smaller big city’...it’s just straight big city now. So is Dallas, DC, Atlanta, and Philly.

Seemed like a Texas city in the making where everything is 20 minutes away by car.
I often don't use my car at all in Austin. I would say, even when we drive or Uber somewhere, its about 10 minutes or 15 if you get behind a stoner.....which is often.

If I could afford it, I’d go Boulder or Ft. Collins. I love Seattle, but the recent politics has made me have a sour taste. For big cities that feel smaller...San Diego is a good one.

a rough one for me as I spent most of my 20's in uniform...and these kinds of choices are somewhat foreign to me...
this would be strictly income driven, New York or New Orleans would be my two top choices...as long as I had the income to do it first class!!!
my experiences in California have left me totally turned off on the state...San Francisco would have a choice 40 years ago, but not now...
I can always travel to see beautiful countryside and my idea of camping is the Hilton...
