This board has a warped sense of blue collar compensation. It’s bizarre.

It's important to think long term- big picture. And, school helps learn how to learn and is necessary for so many professions.

True story, when i was just out of college i dated a girl for a while who worked at Victoria’s Secret in the mall.. her official title, i shite you not, was ‘Bra Specialist’.. i used to joke that if i knew that was an actual job, i would have majored in it in college !

Cheerleaders. Coeds. Female gymnasts. Sorority girls. Everything else is a waste of time.

History, government, and political science. Would start working on political campaigns for nothing right out of college, working my way up to a staffer position on a presidential campaign, and maybe a job in the whitehouse.

I would join a frat and study marketing...or I would go back and work towards a phd in archaeology and become a crackpot professor that gets featured on late night history channel shows about aliens.

I did Business and Econ but I was a communications major and then general studies. I went to community college and then to the university. That allowed me to get my bachelors in three years. As a non traditional, veteran. I got paid to go, went to grad school for MA Econ. Eastern Illinois isn’t fancy but I have the fancy pieces of paper I was told I should get.

If anyone ever needs advice please feel free to ask. You see things differently as an older student, especially during the last few years.

Michigan State has this absurd degree for packaging engineering. But, you don't have to be typical math smart for it. Everyone I know who went through it does well. I should have gone to MSU, got that, and banged 8.5s.

There is a convention called Pack Expo. It's one of the largest trade shows in the world. 1500+ exhibitors.

No one ever stops to think about it, but EVERYTHING is packaged, and EVERYTHING is packaged in a custom package of some kind. Packaging accounts for most waste in America. Packaging engineers make sure everything is package neatly, appropriately, efficiently, attractively, safely and as inexpensively as possible. It's a huge industry that people just don't think about. They think about the product inside the package.

I did. Hated it. Love to build stuff for myself, though. I'm really good at it, but here late in life have really discovered that I enjoy working on cars. I'd probably study automotive shop and get a business degree, then open my own performance shop, get me a TV show and open a bar.
