The over leveraged striver to actually wealthy ratio at Pearl/La Crema is like 100:1
quote:yeah, you're right. Double digit million dollars spent on a vacation home is pretty sad
It's really not that impressive at all
quote:in some cases, you're describing the same people. Otherwise, it's not a zero-sum game. They both can be uber wealthy
You'll see more legit wealth at a reasonably high end restaurant in Atlanta or Dallas on a Thursday night.

Oh for sure, ya'll remember back in 2006 when 30A was a middle class community filled with affordable housing everywhere?
Me either. What the frick are you talking about?
My first year to 30A was 1978. I was 3 months old. It has grown exponentially since then, but it was never "cheap"

I'm not trying to keep you from feeling special when you have drinks at Havana, don't be so defensive.

Give me your estimated percentage of people who hang out in Rosemary who own XX million dollar homes on 30A.

eh. If you can afford a multimillion-dollar lot with a double-digit million dollar vacation home, those are Malibu type numbers. Median home price in Malibu is around $6mil and that's their primary residence. Have you been to alys beach? You know about the Hilton house right?
The median home value in Walton county is around 350k, lets not pretend Malibu = Walton County. Yes, I know Alys beach, I lived in NW Florida as a child when all of 30A was considered worthless. In the early 80s my cousins use to camp on the beach for entire weekends and not see a single person.
I'm not knocking it at all, I love the place. My family and I have owned multiple properties throughout NW Florida and I still own a vacation home in Miramamr Beach. My point is, the wealth you see in Seaside, Alys, etc is nothing compared to other "jet setting" beach communities.

30A is so yesterday. We go elsewhere now.
They say the smart money is headed back west to San Destin and Destin. 30A too crowded and no longer the value it was in the early 90's.

Is 30A where Pedophile Island is located or something?

Not sure if you're being facetious because the monetary value is not decreasing but this has been happening for about 5 years now. Its not necessarily due to value but more of a quality of life issue for full time/part-time residents. More ways in and out, more restaurant options and you can get in and out of the grocery in less than an hour on a Saturday in the Summer.

Where are y’all going on 30a that’s crowded? You pretty much have to look for crowds to find one.

We don't go in June/July/August either, but c'mon

Beach is not crowded, but you go there enough to know the traffic, restaurants and grocery are overwhelmed.

Yeah, in my experience the actual beaches along 30A aren't very crowded unless you set up close to public beach access. Certainly less crowded than most areas in Destin.
It's everything else there that is crowded - the grocery stores, the restaurants, the main roads, etc.

The poors go to 30A. Ballers hit up Hawaii, the Caribbean, pacific islands, and Mediterranean coasts
That's true to a certain point, but 30A is so overpriced you can go to much better places for the same amount or less. That's the hard part to understand about the NW FL coast love.

It’s an easy place to avoid crowds, June of last year...
But most people WANT to be seen.

If you have to vacation in 30A during peak vacation time, you’re not wealthy. Don’t care how much you spend to do it.

PSJ and CSB are so much more enjoyable. 30A has been a shitshow for a long time now.
