What incentive do you have to stay closed? Are they arresting people for opening businesses?

Apparently you could have been open all along. JBE just didn’t tell you. But decided to clarify 8 weeks into the ordeal in a manner that insinuated the business owner didn’t properly read the mess of an EO.

He stated very clearly on March 22 to refer to the CISA guidelines for which businesses could be open.
If someone is a business owner and didn’t make sure that they had to close - that’s on them and speaks volumes about their ability to run a business.

No, but they have many ways to revoke permits and stuff like that.
Very few restaurants can make money only serving to go food because hardly anyone buys alcohol in that situation.
Bars can't make money selling to-go drinks if they are open.
He's just a dumb arse and needs to shut his pie hole and let us get on with our lives.

Per your "LINK to the Press Release" "People can leave their homes to do essential things like buying groceries or food, pick up medicine or go to work only if their job is essential" (emphasis added)
Please explain, the essential jobs are specifically listed. So considering the excerpt above, who outside of essential are able to continue working?

We ( wife and I) both work and we also own a daycare with around a hundred kids with twenty two employees. We applied for the small business loan but didn’t get it We thought our insurance ( we have GAP) would hopefully help, nope. Our Center is opening back in two weeks but I don’t know how we come out of this hole .. we may have to shut down

And no - I’m not going to read a 13 page executive order to decide if some dude on TD can open their business.
But if my business was relying on this - I would’ve had the EO memorized and then reviewed by multiple independent sources to double check my decision to open or close.
It sounds like there were business owners that read “Stay At Home” and then immediately shut their doors.

the Supreme Court would likely have a word with me

with how spastic and punitive various governments have been, you have to add in a ton of risk to any decision that may defy the order
they keep changing the rules and interpretations on the fly so anyone with licensure is at a real risk

Correct. My wife’s business is CISA essential but a division of the state agency that holds her license said they had to close/work remote.
We challenged it. But it took 3 weeks to get a “ruling”. They also never went back and updated the language to clarify our “ruling”.

Section 2, subsection A lists 7 things that the individual can do. None of them include shopping at “non-essential retail”.
So yes, the business could remain open. But customers were prohibited from going.
