clearly there was a left turn in the state b/c the Supreme Court has largely been telegraphing JBE's orders
prior to his emergency extension to May 15, the LASC had things opening up on May 4 (except jury trials)
after JBE's course reversal, no in-person court until May 18
also, just as a more micro example, courts have responded to the LASC/JBE orders very differently. if judges can't interpret these rules at even close to a single interpretation, how the hell do we expect normal laypeople to interpret the orders "correctly"?
hell, if this was really how JBE interpreted his EO, why weren't his comms people saying this weeks ago when temperatures started to rise? why wait until this cluster frick of a week where there is a lot of smoke the admin changed their mind after making opposing assurances?

Many businesses and self employed individuals haven't seen a penny for 6 weeks and they're doing it right. I talk to thes people daily at work. Some are pretty desperate.

You may need to reevaluate who you are using for your CPA and bank. A good bank and CPA should be able to get you approved and get money coming in.

Ok- you got me. It wouldn’t have been memorized. But yes, I would’ve 100% known if I could be open or not.
And then I would’ve evaluated the cost of being open vs the cost of being closed and made the right financial decision for myself and my business.

Up here there was a bar in Nampa that decided to open up. He released a statement that basically amounted to "I'm opening up and if you don't like it, tough shite." I haven't heard anything more about it. If he was arrested it would have likely made headlines.
There was a bar in the North End of Boise that did drinks outside while you waited for your curbside pickup that got pretty packed. People called the police but I don't think anything happened.
I think local jurisdictions are terrified of the repercussions of enforcing an arguably unconstitutional mandate. As much as I think business should adhere to experts' advice, I'm not really in favor of law enforcement physically removing healthy people from a place of business because they might be sick. And I don't think any public figure that seeks re-election wants to be the one to make that call when they realize the weight it bears.

Lol - Ok. This convo started because business owners supposedly didn’t understand the rules of being open vs being closed.
I just felt that was a pretty lazy argument for a business owner that “has their entire life savings” invested in a business.
And now - I’m a “piece of shite”, “fat”, and “never had a job”. You sure are big and mean behind that keyboard.

The first round of PPP was chaotic, but this second round, while not perfectly smooth sailing, is getting out to a lot more small and very small businesses. If you didn't get in on the first round, then you had time to get your numbers together and find a bank that would help you for the second round.
I'll admit the EIDL has been a disaster, but people are finally starting to get funded for those.
