I work in a hospital and we don’t do that - you go back to work after you test negative.
Who is going to pay your bills? Most people that I work with don’t have 14 days of sick or vacation time to use.

Why in the frick would I go get tested when I am not even sick? Are we supposed to start going to doctors when we are not feeling sick now? fricking stupid.

He said he wants everyone exposed to a positive person to quarantine and get tested, but said even if you test negative to still quarantine for 14 days.
I think he misspoke because he was probably talking about the people exposed and then 1 day after exposure getting a test. If you get tested 5-7 days after exposure and are negative, you don’t have it.

I was sick last Monday, Doc told me take the test. I did, waited 4 days for the result and didn’t feel sick or have any symptoms by the time I got the negative result back Thursday. I went back to work Friday. Why the hell would I not?

My wife works for a home health agency. Their policy on a positive test w/no symptoms is “10 day quarantine, if no symptoms, back to work”
No re-test. Everybody just making up their own SOP. Gov shite for brains would not like that. He’s the one that supposed to be in charge of arbitrary SOP

I honestly haven't heard any regulations or recommendations about a self quarantine after a negative test. But like I said, until you find out if you're truly negative, the sensible and responsible thing to do is to separate yourself from the public.
There's a lot of stories of hourly employees being threatened termination if they stop showing up to work, regardless of symptoms, so what do you do? Also, Trump threatening to cut federal funding to schools that don't open in the fall isn't conducive to precautionary sensibilities. Now everyone is like "frick it, we got to open regardless".
We aren't going to get this under control for a looooooong time this way.

And what happens if you test positive but don’t get results until 14 days after the test?

I get tested fairly regularly because of contact with a parent who is on chemo and have before a doctor's appointment and medical procedure.

You don't do preventative care appointments? Like annual check ups?
As far as if I test negative, I test negative. If I get notified that I've been in prolonged contact with someone who has it, I just go get tested. That said, testing here has been pretty quick to return results.

I’ve been thinking about this since my father in law tested positive and my mother in law tested negative but they told her to still monitor for symptoms for a few days since there is still a risk that it was a false negative. Not to mention she is still at risk of exposure, especially after taking him back to the hospital last night with a fever that spiked at 105.
Anyways, if I tested negative, and unlike my MIL, wasn’t still at risk of exposure at home, I would probably still wait a couple days post-test and if no symptoms presented, then feel comfortable exiting quarantine.
