Nope. MIL went and got tested yesterday after waking up with 101 fever and nausea. She was at our house on July 4, and had gone to the doctor the previous week. Her test came back negative- I was ready to quarantine, but, I see no need to if the test was negative.

Are tests not trustworthy?

there are a lot that are not trustworthy. lots of places are doing a basic nasal swab and not going all the way up your nose. the MD told me he thinks they are about 70% accurate at best. so give or take 1/3 of people getting tested are going back out in the populace with a false negative. which is a large number. not everyone can get the full up your nose swab.

Would if it was an option. Any minuscule thing you can do to mitigate spread helps in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully the overly careful at least put a dent in the careless.

It's hard to fathom you dumbasses still believe this is just to get Trump out. Like, the entire country, the entire medical profession, has to be in on this mass conspiracy to sway an election.

We can't even figure out how to make elections go smoothly yet we somehow orchestrated all of this for almost an entire year, wrecked a lot of businesses and lives, just to get Biden elected.

So here's the thing. What's "sensible" to you, seems ludicrous to others. I'm a pretty risk-averse person, and no way on the planet would I even put my life on hold for 2 weeks after testing negative for any illness. It would be hiding from something that is extremely unlikely to even exist.

Wait, why tf do you have to quarantine if you test negative???

There is a delay between the time of initial infection and when it will show on a test. For instance, if you get exposed and infected at 10:00 am and take a test at 3:00 pm that same day, it will undoubtedly be negative even though you are infected.

The 14-day thing still the CDC recommendation from back in April. Although when you look at the bellcurve distribution of infection to symptom presentation (at that point you would undoubtedly show positive), like 95% of people reach this point on Day 5 post exposure.

This whole "testing negative, but quarantine" thing comes from if you were in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for 15+ minutes) with someone who tested positive.

It's not like he came out and said "hey, go get tested, if you test negative still quarantine"

It was all based on a positive, close contact, situation.
