I love a good ipa, but after a couple of them I'm ready to switch to something lighter. I would get really sick of drinking an ipa as the only beer for the rest of my life.
I would probably choose something simple and inoffensive, a lager like Heineken or beck's. I rarely drink those but I think they would have the most longevity, since they have that classic beer taste that mankind has enjoyed for centuries.

This is tough, because there's a ton of microbrews that I really enjoy. For me it's about finding new beers to enjoy.
With that said, I'd probably go Shiner Bock. Not a microbrew and maybe not the 'best' beer, but it's consistent and never treats me wrong.

Sounds like Shiner is the most common fallback choose.

I probably put this company on solid financial footing by myself 20 years ago as much as I drank. If I were drinking again, wouldn't need anything else. Alaskan Amber.
I love Alaskan beers and came very close to picking this. I just had their Alaskan Winter Ale and thought it was delicious. It seemed to have a slightly sweet fruity taste, but their website said it was from spruce tips.

If I'm having a couple beers with dinner I tend to like ambers (Fat Tire, Shiner, Abita Amber) or white/wheat beers (Allagash, Widmer).
But if I could only have one beer for the rest of my life, I think I would need to go light, b/c the time I most want beers is outside when it is hot (tubing on a river, fishing, baseball game, etc). So if I had to choose right now...
Miller High Life.

I'd go with the Korova Milk Porter right now.

It would have been Parish Envie but they changed the damn recipe recently.
