I’d pretend to be an illegal immigrant from Belize and get the govt to pay for my ride to freedom.

These days all the big city's have facial recognition cams everywhere. I'm thinking sneak across the Mexican border and get to Oxaca which is big enough and with lots of tourists so a gringo won't be noticed but has rural areas you could disappear in to.

The first time I drove from Missoula to Boise and took some scenic detours, I became convinced I could live in a cave forever and never be seen again if I didn’t want to be. Plenty of fresh streams. Carefully gather enough supplies to stay there until shite cooled down. Live off of grouse and fish. Small game. Trap. Figure out how to procure a shotgun.

As a completely law-abiding citizen, this is something I spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about. Disappearing with some time to plan vs doing it as a wanted fugitive with no money are completely different. Makes for much less options.

It’s the age old internet question…”There is a $1 billion reward for your capture and literally everyone in the world is looking for you, even family members. With everyone looking for you, you have to survive without being caught, for one year. You have a one hour head start…Go.”

What do you do? Where do you go and how do you hide?

The prison break is in between the above and just deciding to disappear as a random law abiding citizen.

Small towns, ideally small towns out of the country.

A lot of those, a ghetto looking thug would get attention pretty fast.

If you're smart you pull a Shawshank Redemption move. You have to have a plan and head out of the country. Never contact your family again if you want to stay free.

But I’d have access to cash in that scenario where I would basically be starting from scratch as an escapee. You essentially have to have help from at least one person if you escape from prison.

Nah, you’re a criminal; you’d just mug a few people and rob a house or two.
