I'll just add that I love driving my wife's minivan on the interstate. It will cruise at 85-90 like its nothing, and I can punch it over 100 easily to pass. No left lane hanging out and little cars get out of the way.

When I was driving on the autobahn a couple years ago, I was going 120+ MPH and figured I was good to go in the left lane...lol nah. Had a couple of instances in which some roadsters would come out of nowhere and all of a sudden be up on my arse. What they do is turn their left blinker on, which means get the frick out the way baw.
In addition to impeccable roads, they have it right on this topic IMO. Passing in the right lane is very much illegal, but not passing in the left lane is not allowed.

My wife actually got mad at me for flashing brights on a trip a few weeks ago. I had been behind this car for over a mile, both trying to pass a line of cars. They were going 72. I hate getting pinned in next to a semi. Finally just flashed them twice. She said I shouldn't do that. But the woman sped up and got back in the right lane, and I got around and in front of her.

God I miss Germany. I never knew how efficient traffic flow could be until I lived there for three and a half years.
Loved it when the Polizei would nail assholes (usually trucks) cruising in the left lane.
I lost my goddamn mind the first time driving on a US interstate when i came back to the US.

The correct answer is you don’t tailgate and you give the guy going 75 time to pass the cars on his right and get over. Don’t come up on me at 85 without giving me time to get over, which I will gladly and politely do at the first opportunity. Because if you act like an arse and drive three feet off my arse , I might delay you because I can.

In my younger days I'd do the tailgating thing like an idiot, but I'm too old for that now. I have kids, and I live in Texas, it's really not worth getting shot over.

Because you're also violating rules by driving in the left lane. It's a passing lane. If you follow the rules, what other people are doing won't have any impact on you.
